The Devil eats cheeseburgers. My hungry supervisor made me give her my lunch.

This is so incredibly weirf for her to ask. THe only possible thing I could see being a bit acceptable is

I am so, so so hun gry and I know this is so weird to ask, but -- as embarassing as this is -- is there anyway whatsoever I might have that and you could get another?

With a lot of apologies.

But you are NOT a doormat to say yes to this

Pregnancy brain is the only acceptable excuse. It wasn’t her, it was the anemia talking.

She owes you more than $20.
She needs to pay you your hourly work rate plus mileage costs for delivering food to her instead of working. Or at the very least ordered you a nice delivery lunch to make it up to you.

Sending underlings to do personal errands is a big no-no.

This didn't happen.

Totally agree. Just because the boss is female does not somehow diminish how inappropriate this was. She used her power and control to take advantage and essentially bully a direct report. Bad news.

The boss did this simply because she believes she can. It’s a power move. She knows all about Uber Eats. I’m sure there’s an admin on staff who could have easily placed the order.

Ha! Imitating her toddler I'm glad she reimbursed you, OP. She must not be a total loss then. But next time, it's socially acceptable to say "I'm happy to order you something Boss" and bite into your burger.

OP should have said no. Boss even said" do you mind?" and the reply should have been "yes."

The boss sounds crazy, but OP shouldn't be enabling this sort of behavior.

I hope this is true, because it’s hilarious . Who cares though? Super weird. Good story. Move on.

Yep

I would have given it to her no problem because I am generally a kind and empathetic person. I would have asked her for money right then to go get myself another lunch though. Then I would have gone and got another one and ate it at the restaurant.

I show her my cheeseburger and fries I just got and was about to eat for MY lunch! She says, oh can I have that, I’m starving and I don’t have time to wait in the grill line. Do you mind? So I said sure and left to get another lunch. Never bringing food to my desk again (except when she’s on vacation). It was so weird, the nerve of her and my inability to say no since she’s my boss. What is this behavior? Should I tell HR? Look for a new job?

What's the grill line? Is that a restaurant in your building? Is it free or priced?

it’s an office park cafeteria and there is a line for burgers and other grilled items. It’s usually at least 20 people in line at lunchtime. It is not free.

Making you run down again isn't so bad, except for the wasted time in line. She owes you a favor.
