Which is more prestigious: Wesleyan or Tufts

It's pretty easy to draw a conclusion based on the data. 51% of Wesleyan's incoming class was admitted via ED. To your point, Tufts doesn't break out ED admissions. But, it's likely not too much higher than that of Wesleyan.

If that were the case, they’d release their numbers, as 51% is pretty normal for NESCACs. Why not be transparent?

Right. I mean, I have no doubt that Tufts is a great school and that kids who get into Tufts are very accomplished. But using acceptance rates when Tufts is notoriously opaque about its ED numbers isn’t a great way to prove that Tufts is more prestigious than its peers.

This thread is illuminating. I would have thought everyone would say Tufts. I wasn't surprised that my DD got into Wesleyan and waitlisted at Tufts, even though I think she is a better fit for Tufts,

I’m a very happy Tufts parent. It’s interesting to see on the parents page that there are often parents w kids at both Tufts and Wes. It feels like a totally different vibe, but both are really great schools! Tufts has the smfa program for the artsy/film types too.

Wes parent here - only good things are the open curriculum and quality of professors. Very pretentious and cliquey student population, weak career services, and Roth is a clown. And stay far away of u are an athlete

Another Wes parent here - my kid has been transformed in all good ways since starting there. Loves the curriculum, profs, social scene, even the food. As for Roth, how many college presidents who've been in the job nearly 20 years still sound this motivated and inspiring?

I agree. The question is irrelevant. They are both great schools but so different. Your kid should pick they one they feel is a better fit.

Zero career help from coaches and athletic department - about 25% of senior athletes have jobs at this point, which is pathetic. It showed well during recruiting for my DC too, who chose it over Williams (coach offer there too). In hindsight W&L should’ve been the choice - Wes is brutally full of posers and fake woke trust fund kids

Career help? You mean jobs in sports? Those are the only jobs coaches should help with IMO.

If Wes doesn't have a good old boys sports network of helping athletes get white collar non sports jobs after graduation, i say more power to Wes. Why should someone have a leg up getting a job just because he plays lacrosse?
