Cooper Parents Complaining Again

Fcps published this about the current principal:" Lisa Barrow has been selected as the new principal of Cooper Middle School, effective March 2.

Barrow served as principal at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School and assistant principal at Marshall Road Elementary School and Frost Middle School. She has teaching experience in special education; having served as a middle school emotional disabilities department chair.

At the district level, she coordinated the division equity and cultural responsiveness team and was a member of the Fairfax County Public Schools’ Virginia tiered systems of support team, providing support in the development and implementation of the division-wide multi-tiered systems of support for students."

No course teaching experience. An euity expert.

And so the nastiness towards Cooper administrators continues. Why would anyone want to work in that pyramid?

The new principal is even more fantastic than the previous one -- she is firm, but really shows she cares about the students. I have had kids in and out of Cooper since 2016 and have been really pleased with the school.

Yes, the parents complain about principals in the elementary schools in the pyramid, too (PP is talking about the Churchill Road principal who used to be an AP at Cooper).

Can one opt out of any class? If yes then all classes are fair game. If not then it’s not.

quote=Anonymous]The opt-out is a disgrace. Kids shouldn't be able to opt-out of difficult topics.

And if the Jewish students need to opt-out because they're being bullied, then the answer can't be to have the Jewish students remove themselves from education about Jewish history. The answer needs to be better Holocaust and antisemitism education and consequences for bullying and harassment.
