Was anyone against it ?
for some reason the more I learn about it the more I am against it

I forgot but NASA wanted to confirm that a cow had actually jumped over the moon. They found hoof prints and cow pads. So, it s true.

For your easy reference:

Hey, diddle, diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

People are so impatient today. We are ironically victims of our own technology I guess.

After Columbus made it to the Americas for the Europeans, It took the first european settlers 100 years later to try to make a go of it in North America and another hundred years to actually establish a colony.

We first made it to the moon just 80 years ago. The effort and technology it spawned spurred so much technological development that we have cell phones, satellites and, ironically, the very internet which you are now using to complain about its futility. Of course there will be more progress and exploration as time goes on.

You know what’s hard is feeding everybody healthy food let’s do that.

PP. It's available. People won't eat it. My depression-era grandparents were poor as fck and ate healthy food. Same for my impoverished great-grandparents in rural Italy. The food thing is not a money problem; hasn't been for over 100 years.

The so-called food deserts claim about blighted America is unhelpful posturing.

One day we might have a bulk of our crops planted on moon or mars.

So that Elon Musk can control our food supply?

Insanity. We have a perfectly adapted greenhouse right here called planet Earth and it is already designed to supply food efficiently.

The space program inspired people in the US and encouraged science minded people in other countries to work in the US. Humans benefit from discovery, not stagnation. Some of you sound like commies saying we would have domestic bliss without the space program.

They really were The Greatest Generation. Pretty incredible that the program put a guy on the moon and safely brought him home in like 14 years. It takes longer to get a bridge planned, approved, and built!

This is a very good and understated point. That said, these "bros" wanted to control space in order to weaponize it before the Other Guy. It was basically an effort to dominate another field of battle, to have the first mover advantage.

But yeah, it kept them away from the nuclear red button and distracted their energies elsewhere.

No it’s not. Where can I get fresh fruits and vegetables for free? I’d love to get some this afternoon.

The ground or a tree. Go grow them.

But it doesn't have to take longer. If there were a way to get funding for non-flashy science and engineering projects or any sort of social or cultural programs, that spending would benefit more people.

But they'd be regular people, and plutocrats don't care

Because that bridge is going to be there for 75 years. We can't build a new bridge, because we just built one 75 years ago.

Not to mention Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 which are both still transmitting!

Any grocery store will be happy to take your WIC card or food stamps. Next question.

Great that will feed a family for 4 days a month.
