Katie Britt Response

Haha, even republicans, including trump staff, were horrified by her speech: https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/katie-britt-sotu-rebuttal-torched-republicans-1234983528/amp/.

“What the hell am I watching right now?”

Such a weird comment. What skin?

Not PP but that was more cleavage than politicians usually show when they’re at work. Also, I love the color of her blouse - Ann Taylor is full of that color right now.

Please post a picture of the cleavage. I watched it and saw zero cleavage.

Haha, just watched. Yeah, no way was that loved. It looks like an audition gone bad for a high school play.

So provocative.

I really wish these so-called “trad wives” would just go back to the kitchen and shut up already. I find the whole “women’s highest place is in the home, but not for me, I’m a Senator” thing to be really off putting. We get it, you’re #notlikeothergirls, Katie. Most other girls wouldn’t use their position of power to oppress their sisters.

She is a Hill veteran before moving back to Alabama to run for office. She is hardly a "trad wife" - it is all performative.

100% she was totally groomed for Shelby’s position.

A neighbor got a stray bullet in their house. The old money people were selling their beautiful homes because they were tired of getting burglarized.

+1

Per capital crime is much higher in red states than blue ones.

Guns (and poverty/poorly funded education)

Like, gurl— I don’t necessarily disagree with a lot of the points she was making but her delivery REALLY turned me off and I eventually just tuned it out completely because I hate over the top dramatics. (I was in the other room away from T.V.—listening and not watching).

This is my take. I more or less agreed with everything she said and I also liked that she had the confidence to sit in a kitchen (which I read as an act of defiance against the constant attack from the left on femininity). But, she seemed like she was very nervous and had trouble regulating her breath, tone, and delivery, and that detracted from her message.

Do you understand that it is sexist and dated to equate being feminine with being in the kitchen?

News flash : Men eat too, and are even capable of preparing food.

Many people (both men and women) find more fulfillment in their families than in work. When a man says that their family is the most important thing, no one thinks anything of it. When a woman does, people ridicule her as a trad wife. It's fine (and in my opinion, good and healthy) to value your family more than your career.

Why are only women asked to chose between those two things?

Still scratching my head over the kitchen thing. I mean, how many people watched the SOTU from their kitchen table? Why not a more normal, comfortable space like the livingroom couch or den where people normally sit and watch TV?
