Normal kids must sit one way in preschool? Cross legs?

Because sitting in a w style has issues with hips and other physio problems and can also indicate autism. It is abnormal.

Wrong.

i correct my toddler's W sitting all day long-- but not in any specific way- i just say " feet in front" and she moves them- hasn't mastered crossed legged yet and i don't care. the pediatrician said "mermaid style" is still better than " w"

Did ped check her for autism?

for real? my kid has 0 symptoms of autism (i'm a child psychologist and overly attuned to that-- she points all day long--) you are diagnosing this based on a 15 month old sitting w style? as soon as i redirect she does... just mean she has a weak core that needs some practice. pediatrician had zero concern other than me bringing it up.

Montessori has weird rigid rules that don’t make sense to me, and I never understood why parents were so excited about Montessori.

Have always wondered why parents were so excited by Montessori ( and " Montessori toys"

Op here. There are pros and cons. As a teacher, we aren't expected to be super bubbly. Kids can go to the bathroom whenever they want. We don't have to entertain them as much which can be exhausting. I'm not rigid about Montessori however but I do see the benefits. The teachers also usually have more training and education. At my school, even the infant and toddler teachers went to college. People treat it as their career it seems even though the pay is low but they love to have summers off. A large percentage of the school's staff are moms and a lot have children attending the school.

All of your examples, other than being able to go to the bathroom (which is weird because any preschool that restricts bathroom time is doing so because of the physical plant, not because they are or seen Montessori) are about advantages for teachers. I absolutely get why a teacher would choose to teach Montessori, but the comment was that PP couldn’t think of why a parent would choose it for their child.

They are not forced to sit cross leg at circle time as I looked at the old photo I took for my kid’s class ( Montessori), maybe they don’t want kids to get tripped? Ours won’t even force kids to sit for circle time if the kid can’t control due to age too young or wants to do other things quietly ( mine was really interested in sit and listen but he was 3 and tried hard to control himself, teacher knew and told him and us not to worry they didn’t force kids to sit). Most time every child just busy doing their own things ( I mean other than circle time).

W style sitting is common for toddlers. It’s only associated with autism if a child is still doing it when they’re old enough to be in school. Even then, there’s not such a strong correlation that it’s a diagnostic criterion. Stop scaring people.

montessori is weird and outdated, but it is nice that teachers are not required to be " bubbly" or "entertain" kids, LOL! Not for that pay! We all will be motessori soon! As to what OP said in her first post about assistant, it sounds that they hate the job, kids, and circle time! Who cares how kids sit if the little angels come and listen to the story?

This again is not true. Some children even old enough to be in school elementary can still sit w style and may find it more comfortable because it is a muscular skeleton thing due to the rotation of the legs. This kids don't have autism!
