Not religious at Catholic School

We are only good for the price tag of a quality education to them. They spend years bashing the religion--until it's time to pick a HS or college.

Yes! Well said and so so true.

The reason we asked is because one of the parents was raised in the system and did not want certain aspects to be imposed upon the child unless the child (not elementary school) chose it voluntarily. We are far from the only case, and not just in this school.

Catholic schools have an important and meaningful mission they by and large perform well. It is fair for me to say that I don’t think those of you expressing very strong opinions in an unwelcoming manner to the others, especially the subset of you not having kids or recent experience of DMV schools as had been established, is supportive of that mission, particularly in the decision week.

LOL you are lying if you don't share the name of school. And if they are accommodating you, they must be desperate for enrollments. They are going against the archdiocese.

Either 1. you are making this up, 2. the “Catholic school” is not in good standing with the church and is not actually a Catholic school/completely privately funded, or 3. the school is doing this secretly and defrauding the church and their donors

The mission of Catholic schools is and has always been to educate children in the Catholic faith and/or to give non-Catholic children the opportunity to be exposed to Catholic teachings. It’s not to subsidize a private school education for your child at a discount rate while they opt out of these core teachings that you clearly disdain. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You mean you don’t love them, but you should. That’s is the Catholicism the way it is meant to be practiced

Maybe think on this.

Where are your kids in school? That’s right.

You have very strong and negative options to tell someone to be ashamed. And yet the schools welcome these kids and on top
of it it’s been established you don’t have kids or certainly none in the DC Catholic schools currently, so please stop spreading the unwelcome sentiments in the decision week

This is over the top and not very Christian like. I admit I posted earlier that what the school is doing is wrong, but your comments to this person are unkind and unnecessary. On top of this, I think this poster is probably making this up just to trigger you.

I do in fact have two children currently attending Catholic schools and beyond paying tuition we also contribute generously to our local parish, which helps to subsidize Catholic educations for others. I have no problem whatsoever with non Catholics attending the school. I do have a problem with families taking advantage of the cost/value ratio of the education which the church and its faithful subsidizes and then bragging about how they have found loopholes to exempt their children from participating in the central focus and mission of said school.

While I agree with you, you should simply ignore the troll who is claiming they have an exemption. As I said earlier, this is a made up story to get you riled up.

This is a troll. This is not how the Catholic schools in this area operate.

I actually think they are both trolls feeding off each other.
