The kids don't work that hard but get super high GPAs and do very well with college admissions.

Grade deflation is not a necessary part of learning. The girls at NCS who kill themselves for a 3.5 are not learning any more than the kid who gets a 4.5 at Field.

Wow Field is a nice school but is well known to be for students that struggle or have learning disabilities and you are saying they sent 10 percent of last year's grads to the Ivies? Are colleges not aware of the massive grade inflation? Shocking.

I don't know but the college results are just as good if not better than the results for the Big3. Plus the kids have had no stress in high school!!

I really think we WAY over estimate how much colleges care about prestige.

They want high GPAs. Period.

They are realizing this was a big mistake which is why the top schools are now bringing back standardized testing. Some of these kids can not write a paper or a well thought out paragraph for that matter. You may get into an IVY and may even get hired but you an just as easily get fired once you can't pull your weight. Seen it happen. Writing and speaking skills are the most important factor in success no matter what field. You must be able to concisely express your views and opinions and relate them to others even in finance. Child was told these would be the most important things to focus on in undergrad.

So why did you apply in the first place?

Why would you go through all the nonsense of applying if you were going to stay public? That's torture for you and your child.

These posts make me laugh.

In at Field and SSFS
WL at Maret
For ninth grade
Leaning towards Field but want to see if we can get into MacArthur via the lottery. Am thinking the savings in tuition will go for tutors and then some!

Does anyone know if Maret rejects kids or are they all waitlisted? I haven’t heard of one rejection yet

6th grade

IN:
NCS
Holton
SSSAS

WL:
GDS

Currently torn between all 3 "In" schools for different reasons.

GDS made next to zero effort to get to know our child or our family so will not pursuing WL there.

Out of curiosity, where do you live that these are all viable commutes? DC?

Well prepared or just legacies?

Does Georgia Tech even consider legacy?

Waitlisted: Field

Will try to use some connections to work the waitlist at our top choice.

Field is your top choice?

Our priority is boosting GPA for college admissions. Field is the best choice in the area for that.

Don't feed the troll. Use your critical thinking skills.

10% of the graduating 2023 class at Field went to the Ivies.

If this is true, thank you for confirming my decision to tell my kid to overlook the Ivys. Bleh.

Field troll, like a prospective trying too hard at rush…

Do you talk like this in front of your kids? Can you imagine if spoke like this?

Well all of them except NCS have buses, which helps.

You do realize that just because many schools got rid of standardized testing...doesn't mean they don't test the kids right? My daughter had to take a test at just about all the schools she applied to for 4th grade. They just did their own tests and writing samples. So if a child is accepted someone and cannot write, that is not because the school didn't accept standardized tests.

Yeah, your kid can learn how to hold their pee all day, and how not to piss off the maladapted kids who may “go off.” There are serious social issues in our local public schools, post-Covid. Too much isolation did not help anyone.

… tell me your kids have never attended public without telling me your kids have never attended public
