Maternity leave as a government supervisor

Anonymous
You need to take the full leave for yourself but also to set an example for your staff that it’s acceptable to do. My own supervisor took 5 months.

Take the damn free leave. We are all used to gaps in coverage.

- fed supervisor who didn’t get a day of maternity leave and had to figure out how to cobble something together.

I would set the example of not dumping all of my work on my colleagues for 3 months, so you have any idea how much this annoys the non-parents around you?

Doesn't annoy me at all actually.

The only people I've ever heard complain are older women who didn't get maternity leave or rant about women who need it.

All of the older dads who see these young guys taking a 12 week vacation also grumble and make fun on them, it is a huge generational divide issue.

Grow up or quit. It's a benefit of the job. Don't like it? You don't have to be a Federal employee.
