I don't think you understood what I was saying my RE and OB REFUSED to put me on metformin or anything that would improve my disease and egg quality. This includes multiple REs I consulted with. If you can recommend your RE that would be great. |
| How long are you waiting between cycles? You might need a reset. 6 months |
I waited a full year due to miscarrying my 6th pregnancy |
Ah sorry. Yes I misunderstood. While my REI started me on metformin I followed up with refills with my endocrinologist. It might be worth looking into a regular endocrinologist to treat the PCOS. Especially if this Dr isn't on top of the latest research - you can safely take during pregnancy and for women with PCOS is can help prevent late miscarriage. Theralogix sells ovavite- prenatal for advanced maternal age with coq10 over the counter. No rx needed. Just tell REI you're taking a prenatal. My REI said it was safe during ER and transfer. We went to the NYU fertility center in NYC. They have/had the best sart stats on the east coast at the time of our treatment. And the best lab - neck in neck with Cornell. I'm not a big it starts with the egg fan but a lot of people rec that book for egg quality and most is OTC - you don't need REI to prescribe. Some just hate supplements or going off script from set protocols. |
Already did, also shut down by endocrinologist saying it isn't a real disease they treat. If you have an endo to recommend too that would be great. |
You need to advocate for yourself. You're actually saying every endocrinologist in the area told you PCOS isn't a real disease? That's insanity. Endos treat PCOS and diabetes and other endocrine disorders. They can run labs and find out if you're insulin resistance. Our Drs are now based in Manhattan not sure if that works for you. But I really wouldn't take no for an answer. Try a different practice or Google PCOS treatment + your area. A quick search- the district center for integrative medicine pops up. They treat PCOS. If your labs are coming back not showing PCOS or you don't have the strong of pearls on an exam that sure they won't great it but if you have symptoms and can get a diagnosis - which honestly it's not hard so many women have PCOS and I'm not saying metformin is the best treatment but its pretty widely prescribed. They even have online health companies that will treat you virtually. You can also look up non rx ways to treat PCOS- you don't need a Dr for inositol, spearmint tea, berberine. Take some control back. |
I'm a scientist so it's not like I don't advocate for myself or point out how wrong they are, but yes I've met with 2 REs 3 OBs 2 primary cares and 1 endocrinologist and all believe that PCOS is not a real disease. I even have hyperinsulinemia and am well on the way to type 2, but, again, to them that isn't type 2, my A1C is normal and therefore doesn't deserve to be treated. Every single doctor tells me to see a different doctor. So PCM said see the RE, RE said I love PCOS and won't treat it IVF will solved everything, OB said see endo or bariatric clinic (I'min no way a candidate for bariatric surgery), endo said not my problem and I don't want to prescribe metformin. So if anyone has physicians in the DC area or ones willing to do telehealth, I'm all for it. |

Coming back to update this thread - that one embryo is alive and well. Mostly thanks to Dr. Jubiz who had me under intense monitoring.
I still haven't found a doctor willing to take my PCOS seriously. I did finally convince my primary care to help me through the WeGovy approval process. Which took 6 months because even though I failed metformin that's not on the tiered list of things to try for WeGovy. I've been on it for about 9 months and have lost 45 lbs since giving birth. |
Yes too old, our society is telling women to wait but they should be trying to get pregnant early to mid 20s |
Awww congrats!!! |
Congrats on your baby! I hope life goes smoothly for your family now. |
That’s amazing, Congrats!! |
OP, who diagnosed you with PCOS? Trying to read through all the posts and understand how you got diagnosed but then all these doctors said - nah, we’re not going to treat it. |

Did any of the embryos have partial aneuploidy? They might still be useable.
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1471491420303130 Sometimes the abnormal cells are present in only the exterior part of the embryo that become the placenta, but not present in the interior part that will become a baby. Embryos with partial aneuploidy are more likely to be in the this situation. |
This is an old post but +1 everything here. I did not have PCOS, actually the opposite with DOR but also poor egg quality at a "young" age. TTC starting at age 27, tried 2 years, made no blasts in 2 rounds of IVF, had the donor egg speech, Dr said my eggs were all bad. I started above protocol also with lots of exercise to get good blood flow to ovaries and conceived healthy baby boy naturally within 3 months. Started same protocol + exercise when TTC #2 at 33 with AMH 0.3 and also pregnant naturally with healthy baby girl within 3 months. Good luck! |
