But for a kid who really wants Chicago, your best bet would be a school like Northwestern, ND, Indiana, etc. These are the schools that area employers know best and will prioritize. Kids from lower-ranked business schools in other regions will have a slightly tougher road. Same goes for other big cities.

Both OOS and about equal distance from home, understand the differences in geography and cost is not a factor. Which would you pick? Would one be considered easier or less of a grind than the other in order to maintain a higher gpa for grad school?

Wisconsin is so dramatically higher ranked for UGA in biology it’s not even funny. UGA and UW Madison are not comparable schools, full stop end of story. If you wanna even suggest UGA is even in the same orbit as Madison, argue against Madison’s 26 Nobel laureates, and 39 current members of the National Academy of Science (most in the big 10). You know how much UGA has: ZERO in both. You know how many UGA will ever have: ZERO.

What do you mean? No poster, but they're vastly different.

UMD.

I live in the world of 1% ers financially if WI or UGA are OOS for you UMD is the only answer.

The only outlier here would be is if your kid didn't enter UMD into their major and has to matriculate.

Then WI over GA if they enter the school of their major.

If their major is business again UGA is out bec career center there is not as good as the other two.

Has your kid even checked the requirements to graduate in their chosen major at these schools ? I doubt it.
Has your kid even checked the career center to see what internships or jobs are available? I doubt it.

What? You have checked the career center at UMD UGA and wisconsin? For business? It's also about costs, vibe and other things. Why would we check graduation requirements for each school? DC will do fine. Also, did you have a child in business at both UGA and wisconsin? How did you know about their career centers and internships available?

+1

Did you check out the career center?

Peer-reviewed sources are better than opinion.

I know tons of kids stay near college or home but plenty others go all over the US from any college. This whole statement of where they want to live is not with current times. Maybe for internships or first job possibly but otherwise the world is all connected now and often virtual.

UW is a better school, no real question there. UGA is in a better economic location however. That’s actually matters in the long wrong. What do you think powered Michigan ( Ford ) or Berkeley( Silicon Valley)?

I think schools are comparable in every way minus weather-- including economic location.
