The definition of "white" in this country has always been a moving target.

So wapo now defines Central americans and Asians as white?

Lots of people from Central and South America are Caucasian.

My boys visually and demographically identify as white yet I am Latina. They will not be as tall as their 6'4" father, which is good because he doesn't fit well into some public spaces.

When I was young in NYC the police had a 6 foot height requirement minimum.

The article (in bolded in OP post) stated they looked at only white people.

Did they break down the white people's ancestry though? Now white Americans may have small amounts of other races mixed in, even though they appear white. Before there were large populations of German and Scandinavian immigrants, who are usually on the tall side. Now those have mixed with other Europeans and other races.

Nutrition, healthcare, and stress all play a role. I would also wonder if vitamin D plays a role. Kids are slathered in sunscreen these days. Also many kids don’t drink cow’s milk that’s fortified with D. Kids spend so much more time indoors too.

It is possible to "whitewash" an ethnicity in as few as 2 generations.

My aunt is Peruvian. She married my uncle, a white American with European (France/Wales) roots. My cousins look like they've always just come back from a beach vacation with a nice tan.

My oldest cousin married an American man with Swedish-American parents (blonde, blue-eyed, tall) and their kids are very fair. They don't look South American at all and are very white-passing. My aunt has been confused as being their nanny several times while out and about with them.

White South Americans loathe to come to the us as immigrants

White Central Americans are rare and while they aren’t as reticent to come to the us as South Americans, the numbers are minuscule

Given this, will we start seeing 23andMe reports being demanded during the “define the relationship” phase so people aren’t surprised in the future?

France while much smaller in area than the us still has a lot more genetic variability than Germany

Alsatians are very different than people from Brittany who are different than people from the south or the pyranees/basque area

Macron for example could never run for us president due to height
