Unexpectedly laid off- what to do about childcare? Has anyone been through this?

I would tell your Nanny stat your situation then offer her part-time for the next 3-4 weeks as a soft landing.

During this time, also write her a letter of recommendation and/or offer to be a reference for her as she undergoes her own job search.

I am sure your Nanny will understand all of this is beyond your control.

The nanny should them tell her that her rent/mortgage won't be cut in half. OP needs to face reality. Let the nanny go so she can find a new full time job.
