Um. No. UT grad here.

UT main campus (sometimes called the St George campus, which is different from Mississauga campus), has a residential college system, is dead center in downtown Toronto, and is not even close to a commuter campus.


This doesn't seem front-and-center any more (although the OP mentioned UT) but I was just there and it was a Toronto faculty member who told me that it's mostly a commuter school. They did point out the colleges like Trinity but said most students live off campus and that there isn't really any feeling of campus community among the students. That's not entirely surprising for a city school with 60k students. In any case if the OP's kid is interested in rural LACs, Toronto doesn't sound the right option.
