Valor is pay-to play. Their lower teams are awful, they literally will take any kid who can pay and the people on top run it like a pyramid scheme and increase their own pay every eyar. Its incredibly easy to get hired to coach for them, though, since they have so many teams.

Isn't everyone pay-to-play?

Also why do they have so many teams if they are awful? Not being sarcastic, just curious.

Because they have two giant affiliated rec leagues that feed them mediocre players every year. 100 kids show up to tryouts, 100 kids make a team. They just add more teams.

Yup. Everyone makes the team. It is sad. Especially when you see the academy practices and the top kids are mixed with ones who can barely pass or dribble.

Well, their money is as good as yours! And there are a LOT more mediocre players than good players, so its a huge population to mine for paying customers. And the parents get to say "Larlo made the travel team!"

Do they make clear to the parents the pecking order of the teams? I am amazed people will pay to be on the 5th level team.

I think some of the issue is also the state of some rec programs. Some parents just want better coaching and a more even team, with teammates that actually want to try.

If the parents and players like it, not sure why anyone else complains. As far as how upfront clubs are w/ regards to team pecking order? I could say, other than the clubs I've been a part of make it clear upfront and generally post expected teams and coaches well before tryouts.

If there weren't so many travel teams, the rec leagues would be better.

This 🔥.

This is like adding all the kids to advanced math because of parent requests and then watering down the content and slowing the teaching because kids can't keep up.

Please return to regular math kids!

Stay away from SYC. They are horrible.

SYC is a large club. They only care about generating revenue. The pay is low. Many of the coaches will have two to three teams and end up offering private lessons to make extra cash. Fields are limited and overpacked. If you do not have a top team, then they do not care about you. Look at their social media, they only promote their top teams.
