VA Union

NL is not going to displace ECNL or ECNL-RL. it is like EDP with a new name.

FCV is fine but for Springfield girls it isn't really an option. They train in Loudoun. SYC getting GA would be an amazing opportunity for the girls side which is limited to NL. NL is a pain - games are so far away when there are so many teams close by to play.

SYC and Alexandria both play NL at u15 snd thr game schedule is hyperlocal- like they play each other, LMVSC, sone team in Leesburg and thr St James. They lplay each team twice. Other age groups have a more spreadout schedule but so far it is not great.

It seems like if SYC/Union were going to make these big changes that they would announce prior to spring tryouts?
I like the idea of a GA team on the east side of NOVA, whether it’s SYC that does it or FCV out of the Springfield location.

Agreed. I'm surprised Leesburg FC is even still around. And VA Revolution is like a big rec program with travel pricing (the mortgage on Evergreen must be huge). They play in NCSL with a handful of teams in USYS South Atlantic/EDP and in general, their EDP teams aren't doing terribly well there. It's a good location if you're in or near Loudoun County and the facilities are great but if your DC is serious about soccer, explore your other options (like FCV, VSA, Loudoun, Virginia Valor, etc.) and compare the coaching, development and pricing.

FCV would fight it tooth an nail.

But FCV wants MLS Next on the boys side, so probably doesn’t want to make an enemy of SYC, unless they think SYC is going to cut into their program substantially. Despite The St James being in Springfield, it seems FCV is aggressively looking to continue to grow its footprint in Loudoun and Western Fairfax - Herndon/Chantilly.

FCV wants MLSNext. That made me chuckle.

Where do their boys teams play? A few younger aged teams in ncsl, a few scattered in EDP/NL, unless they merge/take over another big club it seems like it has very little chance.

you heard it here first, fcv/revolution will partner to get mlsnext based out of loudoun in the next 18 months

I hope SYC gets GA. How mad will Alexandria be if that happens??

I would assume that they purchase a boys team. St Jame's mo across all sports is to buy existing teams with league memberships rather than to try and build their own

That made me chuckle. Again.

The man (Todd Boehly) who supplied the funding to make The St James happen has sent $30M in transfer fees to MLS since taking over Chelsea. Not sure he cares about TSJ, but he could probably get MLS Next for them with a one line text message.
