The Marc Jacobs Snapshot bag for age 13, is $325-395 too expensive? Too grown up?

For the posters sharing the DHGate versions, are these purses bad to purchase? I’ve seen some mention of supporting terrorism by buying counterfeit but is that the case?

For so many reasons, including that they often fund terrorism, don’t buy a counterfeit and don’t teach your DD that counterfeits are okay.

If this were a classic style that would last her into adulthood then I could understand it. But it's not. It will end up in some charity bin eventually.

Computers and technology aren’t the same- at all. This is a luxury item and a status symbol for a 13 yr old. Don’t let your 13 be that girl. She will then want a Chanel bag at 18 and be convinced she “deserves” it. So many young women fall into the luxury trap: high end skin care, high end makeup, luxury bags and clothing items, and then they waste their money away because they feel entitled to these luxuries. Teach her to buy things of value and substance, whether it is your money or her own.

I agree with you. These other products may be expensive as well, but they have a utility other than showing off.

Maybe I'm naive, but I'm assuming this falls in the category of knockoff rather than counterfit, since they changed the logo.

What does her income have to do with your budget. You could have the exact same financial numbers but still have different ideas on what to buy.

My dd has been into fashion since about 4th grade. in middle school when all the girls had Uggs she had Marc Jacobs boots. When all the girls had backpacks she had a Kate Spade tote bag with a cute graphic.

Knock offs fall apart within weeks. And Temu is garbage that steals from designers.

It’s nice to see Marc Jacobs back with less expensive items. It’s a great present for Christmas and it will be part of her collection of bags for years.

13 year olds do not want knock offs. Do you remember middle school? They would be teased endlessly if people found them carrying a fake.

I posted that and have teens. Mine care about certain knock offs, like they certainly don’t want fake uggs, Lululemon or Nikes. They wouldn’t care about this and have LV and Gucci fakes. They aren’t passing them off as real. Mine don’t care one bit about purses, wallets etc and think their cheap brand names are funny.

That’s not good that they even want to wear or carry around gaudy Gucci fakes. And LV is so overrun by fakes and so common why would anyone want them. But the horror of fake Uggs would freak them out. Maybe teach them a little about ethics and why it’s considered stealing. If you can’t afford the designer item buy something else.

If it's her largest gift whats the big deal?

Anyone who has bought their kids airmax 270s (which every kid has on) can’t talk much trash to OP for considering buying this bag.

Do you want to encourage that, OP?

This bag is less expensive? Really?

I think you should get it. My son is getting a new Xbox for Christmas. I think it was somewhere around $500, plus clothes and sports equipment. 18 year old DD asked for some Lululemon clothes and found a $400 bracelet she wanted. DH said no way. It seems completely unfair to me.

I have quality purses I've used for over 20 years. It's Christmas. Let her be happy and surprised. If you were planning on spending $350 anyway, just get her what she wants. There is nothing more disappointing then opening a gift to get the cheap, fake version of what you truly wanted.

Is this too grown up for 13? I’ll admit that I am a bit conflicted, the bag is very sleek in all black. It is popular and likelihood of it being a target for another teen to steal is possible with wearing it to school but I don’t know that this bag would be a target for theft like we are seeing with Canada Goose, Moncler.

Is Marc Jacobs still popular? Especially with under 40?
