Are you saying only FCPS has that program because that isn’t true—other school districts are listed on the page.

Are you saying, that there is no direct admit program—it is only this program in the link? Because that isn’t true either. Our FCPS has the direct admit program.

My FCPS kid got the offer for direct admit. URM, NMSF and not FGLI

Here’s the Mason page with info

The link does not say which high school have this. Which ones?

For this new direct-admit program sounds like Herndon is one of the five HSs.

Ignore my last email. I see now.

Why do you all care? Nobody on this thread is likely to send their kid to GMU anyway.

This is something similar but my kid who got the offer doesn’t attend any of these schools. He’s at another FCPS high school.

Oh, so what are the high schools? Is there an actual list somewhere?

I can’t find a complete list. This recent APS article states there are 24 schools in the area participating

24 local high schools participating. Schools were selected based on higher percentages of students receiving free or reduced-price meals.

You must be joking. Nice bubble you live in.

Doesn't everyone get into GMU anyway?

The issue is not everyone applies. Some kids that don’t have college or their radar or as a priority may get admitted to GMU and then give it some consideration. It’s designed to boost enrollment for certain underrepresented groups of students that may not typically apply for various reasons. This creates an easier path to college and I’m all for it.

I do not live in a bubble. I was just pointing out how most posters on this forum are uber-obsessed with Ivy+ schools. I don’t see why some were up in arms over a few high schools with high low-income / first gen /URMs getting special treatment.

For what it’s worth, my kids attend one of those “less fortunate” high schools in fcps. I am very glad their school mates will have the opportunity to attend GMU.

My 4.7 WGPA white OOS kid is applying. Nice to know the school cares about intentional inclusion. That’s another mark in its favor.

This seems like an excellent program for kids who are intimidated by the whole application process.
