It's almost always kids. Either current or former students. If you've been in MCPS long enough, you learn these patterns.

Ugh.

However, this does suggest that part of how to combat misinformation like this would be to have improved security monitoring in centralized locations (like cameras and gunshot detectors). Active shooter called in? Nope - nothing on our sensors. Bomb threat called in? Nope, no unauthorized persons on premises last night. Sure, you send police to follow up at the school, but don’t into full reaction mode instantly.

Huh. I have a Blair kid and received timely updates from the school today about the situation, but had not seen that email. Where did your child get it, if it was emailed directly to Blair HS?

To be clear, the email had not been sent out by Blair, but was circulating the school in the hands of students.

I don't disbelieve PP, but this is really interesting because you cannot send emails to MCPS students from outside the domain, and because MCPS emails are just numbers. So, someone would need to know how MCPS emails work to even get this into the hands of students.

And, please refrain from calling them bad kids. They are just ‘under-served’ kids who are just victims of a bad system.

That's why MCPS isn't in the law and order business and this falls to MCPD and DA to figure out.

This is what I heard as well, with the comment that it wasn’t intentionally shown. It was open when the screen started projecting, or something like that.
