Late 30s/early 40s - how many homes have you bought and sold?

42/40 and we have owned one place. Bought a 4 bedroom in the city in 2011 for a steal. 30 year mortgage will be paid off when we are 59/61.

in theory, I guess we have a bunch of equity. But it doesn't feel real, and I'm not sure when we would access it or what we would use it for. One day it may be extremely helpful? Not sure. Maybe it will help our kids in the far off future?

Four by early 40’s. Starter home when we got married, then larger one with first child, even larger one after third child and then 4th when we relocated across country.

I bought a condo at 23, sold it at 26 to move abroad for a year (broke even). Bought another condo at 27 with soon-to-be fiancé, sold it at 30 to buy a SFH (probably mostly broke even). We sold that house about 4 years later for a bigger SFH that I will never leave (pretty much broke even on that sale too).

We’re not great at real estate in terms of making profits on the sales, but we’ve loved all of the places we’ve lived and each helped with the down payment on the next.

We also now own a lake house that I hope to never sell and that we probably paid too much for but is currently my most favorite place to be.
