Schools and Education General Discussion

HMMM - talking about arguements 1) I am not argueing I am providing information to the OP. 2) Your arguement is ad hominem (an attempt to link the validity of a premise to a characteristic) In debate it is a clear sign that you are losing your arguement so you have to defile the character of the other person. (also a red herring)
I would stick with BCC, WJ or Churchill - or go private. Not all people that don't want to live near crime are prejudice. we have tons of friends that live in the 4-corners area - it is better to be aware of your situation than ignorant to it. They are not clueless about the crime there. Enjoy your gentrification. |
HAHA! HAHAHAHA! Joking right? |
I don't live in four corners, although I too have friends there - and they have had no experience with gangs. Perhaps you have a lower class of friends there, if your friends are so involved with gangs? Here's the difference between your posts and mine: I post about Blair from actual experience, but you have no experience with the place. So I can make an argument that relies on actual experience and facts, instead of vague allusions to MS-13, 7-11 stores, and city-wide murder rates. And I don't feel any need to make up stuff, unlike you, when you claimed that the gang tip line was from MCPS not from MoCo which it actually is. For somebody who uses words like "ad hominem" (which I already knew, thanks), you have a really sleazy arguing style. (Also, I can spell and punctuate, unlike you.) I just wish that, if you know nothing about what you're talking about, you wouldn't post. Your grammatical and spelling mistakes don't bother me so much. Although your sleazy argument style, making it up as you go along, does get on my nerves, I have to admit. Post about what you know. Don't make up stuff about what you don't know. |
Lots of drug dealing, though. I guess it's not as "close" to the street. |

I have actual factual knowledge of Blair and the surrounding area - it's just not through the eyes of a child.
True my spelling is horrid. Dyslexia sucks! |

Since this started with Einstein - here is an example of something that would happen there....

If you don't have personal experience with Blair, you have no business offering your opinion that kids at the school are "unsafe" due to gangs. In the absence of personal experience, it would have been OK to base your statements on actual statistics or police or news reports ("MS-13 members arrested at Blair"), if such reports even exist. But all you've given us is fuzzy, nebulous, things like, (a) gangs are 3 miles away in Langley Park, and (b) gang members hang out at the local 7/11. In fact, I'm not even sure there's a 7/11 in the 4-corners area, let alone that this mythical 7/11 is a gang hideaway. Your opinions have no basis on personal experience, facts, or even reason. Which is why some here have concluded that your opinions are based on prejudice. |
|
I am not really even talking to you. So let the OP read the MCPS website, Mont. Co. Police stats, news paper articles and conclude.
I am sorry if I hurt your feeling - I hope you kids like their magnet schools. |
And Einstein is in ... Kensington, in the green zone, and with some very wealthy local homeowners. Go figure! And this just in from another another wealthy, green-zone school: an arson last weekend at Walt Whitman. The arson may have involved Whitman and Georgetown Prep kids. There is a thread on this in the MoCo forum. |

The section of k-town that goes to einstein - is really wheaton. Just like n.potomac is really gaithersburg. If you move to k-town make aure it is in the wj district.
The arsonists lived in G. Park which is also wealthy so it should get a lot of play in the Post. |
|
Didn't live in G.Park - the other crime was in G.Park. My bad.

Please name a private school that has gang activity? |
So this is a 3-year-old article about a 14-year-old honors student at Blair, who had no connection to gangs. But he was shot by a 20-year-old MS-13 gang member after a verbal exchange on a public bus. The murder didn't take place at Blair, instead it took place on a bus on Piney Branch road. Are you kidding me? Is this supposed to be proof that gangs exist at Blair? Not. If anything, this is an argument not to live in MoCo. Blair is irrelevant to the story. This could have happened to anybody, child or adult, student in a public or private school, in MoCo, who happens to ride the Ride-On busses. PS. I'm fascinated! How long did you have to google before you found this? |

The Joint County Gang Prevention Task Force report said Montgomery officials estimate there are 20 to 22 gangs operating in the county, with 540 to 560 active members. Gangs in Montgomery County are concentrated in Takoma Park, Wheaton, Rockville and Gaithersburg.
