Speaking of moron...you don't understand what that meant. |
Or you're an external agitator trying to spin up drama before an election. |
I’d go with the idiot who encourage people to hang mike pence and said the virus was a hoax. |
Lol. There is no election anytime soon. |
How much funding was taken from the police? Police budgets are public information, cite your sources. If "defund the police" is to blame, surely you can back up your statement with proof. |
It's really about expectations. In the '90s I simply never went to Shaw, Columbia Heights, or U Street. I didn't even like to drive through those areas on my commute home. While those areas were awful, the crime didn't really affect me, a white middle-class guy. Now the city is much more demographically mixed, and crime affects all demographics.
In addition, there was the expectation of constant improvement in the 2000's - the question was "what's the next neighborhood to improve?". It's sad to see so many parts of the city slipping backwards, even if statistically they are still safer than the nadir of the early 1990's. |
Why not both? Extremism is the enemy of stability. |
What is extreme about "defund the police"? Do you even know what that means? |
Really? |
Many places are better, but I have noticed a definite downturn in Chinatown and Columbia Heights in the last 10 years. I lived in Logan Circle before it was "cool" so even though it's gotten more sketchy than a few years ago, it's still way better. |
Uh, no, there are more than enough actual real people in the area with opinions like this, and there's absolutely no reason to think Russian trolls or whatever other "external agitator" you have in mind have even heard of, let alone posted on, this site. |
You really think DC residents are ignorant enough to complain about “defund the police”? |
"Crime is worse now because I simply ignored it in the past." Of all the braindead takes in this thread, this may be the dumbest. |
Lol. Lived in DC since I was born in the mid 80s. It's SO MUCH BETTER currently than pre-2000, even pre-2004 really. Yes, crime is high this year, but you clearly have no idea what DC was like in the 80 and 90s if you think it's currently state represents "decline."

Agree about increase in panhandling. In our neighborhood, we have Central Americans panhandling at the intersections. Seriously? They illegally cross the US border just to beg for money. If we keep getting all their people, then we should get their land too. Replace their sorry government. |
