They still turn out successful students going to good colleges. I’d have a problem with the fact that they all look alike. |
I know one kid with learning differences who goes to Sidwell. Should I assume Sidwell is a special ed school? |
| People are so jealous that the is a school full of wealthy, attractive girls. They just can't get over that. Sign. |
We live very close by to HC and often see the girls in the Village shopping center. I wouldn't classify them as you do honestly. Are there pretty girls? Of course! But it's not necessarily "full of wealthy, attractive girls." That said, we passed on HC for a more rigorous school where my attractive, smart daughter could thrive. It's all about fit. |
Agree this poster seems unhinged. People want to know what kind of school their kid might go to and what its reputation is. |
Where are you seeing this? None of these schools are on the list of college acceptances from 2011-2023. NONE. I usually don't look at the lists that capture acceptances because it doesn't take into account that students get accepted to multiple schools and for the most part a select few get into the multiple top schools. Matriculations are more telling. However for the purposes of comparison, I checked some similar schools' acceptances. Only SR had a "similar" list, except it was for a significantly shorter period of time (3 years vs. 12 years). You will see that HC has a limited number of acceptances to top 20 schools even over a very long period of time. SR has a much more comprehensive list over a much shorter period of time. This tells me that HC rarely gets acceptances to top 20 schools whereas it is more common at SR. This is important information to have for anyone looking for a school that can prepare their student for admission to a top school. Here is HC's list which included 12 years of acceptances. I asterisked the top 20 schools, which were Brown, Cal Tech, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, UCLA, ND, and Penn (6 of the top 20 schools OVER 12 YEARS). Yes. She'll do well wherever she goes if it's who she is.
Holy Child is excellent. DCUM's say the girls are snobby just because they tend to be very pretty and wealthy. However, they're not snobby. |
Yet another old hag mom obsessing over teen girls who just happen to be prettier than your daughter. You've spilled a lot of ink over a school you claim to not care about. Well, their open house was bursting at the seams, so clearly plenty of people value what this school has to offer. Sorry your plain Jane daughter won't be in the class of 2028. I'm sure Visi and its daily 8 hours of homework will be glad to have her.

| My DD had a classmate at her Big3 that was counseled out after 9th grade because she had Ds and Fs. Classmate switched to Holy Child for 10-12th. Ended up at a Top 25 college. This was recently. My DD ended up at a Top 50. I think Holy Child is doing something right! |
Also, follow their alum stories on Instagram - I've seen a lot more CEO/executive type positions and entrepreneur/start up profiles from their alum than a lot of the alums I see on some of the other all girls schools. I am not sure why but have definitely noticed that with HC grads. |
LOL triggered aren't you. Didn't you ever learn in Catholic school that it's not nice to call people names or judge people? I didn't say I didn't care about the school. I have two more girls approaching HS age and will be looking at HC for one of them as she isn't academically strong enough for some of the other all girls schools in the area. Plus HC is closest to our home. I hope you aren't a mom there...that would totally make me cross this school off the list. |
Well, I am a mom there! Cross it off your list stat! NCS is waiting for your daughters' applications.
|
Nah, not interested in NCS. We are looking for Catholic options only. Thanks for the heads up and just as a fyi, you do nothing for the reputation of your daughter's school. |
Not weird at all if you are a parent considering it for your child. The proof is in the pudding. If no child is going to highly selective colleges or only a couple each year are , that tells you something. Also telling if these are also the recruits for athletes where they are attending. They will posting signing pictures on the school SM sometimes and you can see that is their particular hook, which may not apply to your daughter. |
Hon, you can't afford the school anyway. It is $40k. So stick to the public high school where you are already enrolled and stop pretending to "weigh your options" - no one is believing you. HC is not an option for you. |
