The issue is that OP’s fantasy life involves finding enjoyment in pretending to harm and even kill others. Reading erotica doesn’t require you to suspend empathy or regard for others’ suffering. But OP’s activity does, and that’s what makes it disturbing.

Video games have massive production budgets these days that can even blow Hollywood movies out of the water. Gaming is a gargantuan industry bigger than even movies. People play games because of stories, character development, escape from reality, you name name it. It's not your video games from the 1970s anymore. There are stories way more complex than many shows and movies that engross the player in an entirely different universe.
