I went to VHC.
Yes you do kegels at home but also other pelvic floor and core exercises. The drinking/ urination diary I kept for the first week was a pita but she saw patterns. Part of it is bladder training to increase time between urinating. I can go 2 to 3 hours now. |
Does it cure the cause? |

48 hours past surgery. Couldn't pee after so sent home with a catheter. I chose the foley bc the idea of cath'ing myself every time I had to pee sounded exhausting.
Surgeon assures me this can be normal. I go tomorrow at 72 hours to see if I can pee on my own. Anyone else who had the surgery had this experience? |
| Closing the loop in case people find this looking for similar stories. Catheter out and can pee! |
Can you please share the pelvic floor and core exercises for the rest of us please? |
YAY! |
I don't have them online, just paper. But they are not rocket science CAVEAT they also may depend on your internal and core weaknesses as diagnosed by PT. What I do are these. You can easily find them if you look online.. As you see, they are mostly CORE and pelvic floor things Kegels done right. 10 sec hold, 2 sec rest. Ten reps. 3 times a day. If quality of hold diminishes during a set, use 10 sec rest. Glute Bridges holding ball between knees. 2 sets of 10 Deadbugs, ie Supine 90 90 marching, pelvis flat and braced. 10 times, 2 srts Goblet squats, bulding to using a 10 pound weight. 10x, 2 sets Standing march 10x each side, two sets Palloff press. |
| I had a sling for stress incontinence put in late last year, it was a super easy recovery and no more leakage at all. I had moderate stress incontinence (sneeze, cough, laugh, run, jump) and urge incontinence but no prolapse at all. I use an estradiol cream vaginally for the urge incontinence and it works like a charm. I hemmed and hawed a bit over the surgery but I’m in my early 50s and this wasn’t going to get better…and I didn’t want to be 60 wearing a diaper. I only regret waiting! It was done by a urogyn and went home without a catheter, able to pee immediately when they removed the catheter after surgery. Just wanted to share a positive experience. |
| PP who had the surgery - were you still sore a week after? I am still requiring Tylenol on a schedule to be good to move around. It's not excruciating but with Tylenol maybe a 3-4 in certain positions (like when I am in the process of sitting or standing up) and I feel like other people online were totally bounced back a week later?! |
This is PP directly above, I was feeling back to normal about a week out. Was still taking Tylenol and Motrin, alternating, up until day 8-9. I felt best in a semi-reclined position but that resolved in a week or so. I found it uncomfortable to drive a long distance for about ten days due to pulling at the incision sites when seated. By the two week mark I felt back to normal, although I followed the dr’s instruction wrt exercise and no lifting until six weeks. Now totally back to normal everything. Best of luck, don’t hesitate to reach out to your dr’s office!! |
