Also, we're all obviously here in the US and here on this board, so clearly we don't dislike Americans or the US that much or we'd be in the cities, towns, countries we came from. |
Wasatch Mountains, Utah Love the outdoors. Love Utah. Love mountain biking. Love locally owned restaurants and stores. Stay there all summer. We rent it out all winter to skiers. We do not rent it outside of ski season. If we ski there we rent another place to stay. |
Nothing is secret about Naxos, lol. |
its like having a second home in a trailer park. |
Northern Vermont on a mountain. We go there about 4x over the winter to ski. It is perfectly situated on the mountain and my kids love it. So many happy times there. When we're not there, the resort has a rental program that we participate in. Also looking at a place in Deep Creek. We would do the same thing: use it sometimes and rent it. We are in DC with HHI of $1.3m. |

we do not have a second home, although I will inherit one in california in the next few years, but the taxes and insurance alone will be more than 40k/year so as much as I like it, I can't see us living there full time and will likely sell it (plus everytime there is a fire, I'm panicking as its in a wildfire prone area).
We have discussed buying a small place in France (maybe montpellier) for retirement, but I also really like the freedom of being able to simply rent a place for a while and not have to deal with maintenance, etc. I have no desire for a second home in the states though. We rent a beach house for a week a year and that's enough for me. HHI 350k. |
Reminds me of that joke Q. if you are American when you go into the bathroom, what are you once you are inside. A. European |
