I do more work at home because I don't have to waste time talking to dinosaurs like you. YOU are pathetic.

Yet you’re finding the time now, during the work day.

Maybe not, but it is the responsibility of the federal government to care about the variability of restaurants in our economy.

You’re a civil servant….so that means you.

As dumb as your argument, I will bite. Remember even WFH folks eat out near their neighborhood. Or are you saying they have to eat out in DC and only DC??

If i were you, I'd have waited until lunch time to post.

The human race will not prosper if all of us remain isolated in little hovels for hours and hours every day. You are all just being selfish and shortsighted.

Feel free to go to your office.

We are only back 3 days per pay period but I cannot stand all of the standing around talking - literally for hours. I cannot get any work done and find myself reading the same thing over and over again.

We are told that's important. Used to be called "wasting time" before Covid but now it's called "corroboration." We even have "corroboration" rooms that are empty. No clue what we are supposed to do in there.

I think you mean “viability.”

Investing in HVAC on par with Japan would get me back into a restaurant. Until then, talk to the hand.

Or, maybe it will get better as we connect in person with our immediate communities and virtually with people all over the world.

Right? I've never understood this restaurant argument. Why is the DC restaurant more important than my neighborhood restaurant? I'm actually eating a lot more at the local small business sandwich place five minutes from my house than I ever did at the fast food joint across from my office. And based on their lunch hour business, the local place would really hurt if more people returned to 2019 work positions.

Unless you’re paying for my lunch you have no business telling me how to spend my money. Why don’t you go into DC every day to buy your meals, if you’re that concerned?

I’m not telling you how to spend your money. I’m telling you why the government cares. You work for the Government so you’re one of the affected employees. The argument that it is not the responsibility of federal employees to support downtown is moot because you work for the entity designed to care. If you don’t, that’s fine, but it’s not an invalid reason for the employer even if the employee doesn’t like it.

Your reaction is disproportionate.

They care about DC because that’s the capital and the reason all those towns in DC exist. So yes, they very much do care.

In the DC area.

And my argument isn’t dumb just because it doesn’t benefit your commute.
