Europe for 2 weeks with kids

Mentioned earlier was Stroudsbourg and Alsace, I love this area of France. You could easily do this with Munich and some mountains.

Unless your kids are older and can enjoy the Edinburgh Festival in the summer, it's a very boring place. my parents took me as a kid and I was bored out of my skull.

My little kids loved Edinburgh. Castles, hike up Arthur’s Seat, Elephant Room/House? (Cafe where JK Rowling hung out at while writing Harry Potter), Royal Mile, Greyfriars Kirkyard…etc. Kids loved it.

Arthur's seat is just a grassy hill.

True, but it has a great view of the city and it’s an easy family hike.

London and Brussels and take the Eurostar between the two, which is lots of fun. In Belgium you can easily do day trips to a few other countries or that interests you. Avoid Paris because of the Olympics.

Dublin and Scotland are another good combo with a short transit time.

With the caveat of the Paris Olympics, may I suggest destinations with less people and good ice cream? Seriously, my kids adore the gelato found throughout the Mediterranean. You could fly into Paris and meander through the lavender fields of Provence to the southern coast at Juan-les-Pins. Kids like beaches and playgrounds, maybe the Eiffel Tower at that age, but museums aren’t going to wow them yet. London is a massive city with kids and besides the London Eye, I’m not sure my kids remember it as a specific destination. They remember gelato in Barcelona, gelato in San Sebastián and gelato in Provence very well.

You might want to stick to Epcot.

Germany! Fantastic summer weather (no humidity!!!!), loads of parks, beirgartens with playgrounds. Plus they eat dinner at "American" times, none of this waiting until 8pm for restaurants to open like many parts of Spain/Portugal/France/Italy. Look up alpine slides, they are amazing. Plus kletterwald, really fun outdoor climbing parks. Germany is also really affordable for activities, lodging and food, even in major cities (especially compared with London and Paris).

Trips should not be built around gelato. Seriously.

I’m from the alpine region in Germany and it’s so great when the weather is nice. It’s not so great when it’s not. We go every summer and there have been summers when we wear our fall clothes and it rains non stop.
