What happens at TJ is your kid is a top student is that they tend to become pals with other good students heading to W-L IBD, not just the Long Branch (only feeder elementary in boundary for WL) ES crowd.

This happens at all the middle schools. Kids are going to meet new people when they get to high school and many will change friend groups anyway.

Left out Discovery.

Don’t bother going there. Ridiculous amount of teacher turnover due to the unsupportive administration. Children are not individually disciplined, which is s disaster.

Discovery does have some teacher turnover but we have been very happy with the school, teachers, and admin. My kids are very happy there, the building is beautiful, kids get extra recess sometimes, and have done well academically. Teachers had a very difficult time during the pandemic and Discovery isn’t the only school to lose good teachers. I also like that the pyramid doesn’t split, Discovery, Williamsburg, Yorktown. Friends at tuckahoe told me the school splits and some friends may go to Swanson or Williamsburg.

Splits can be a good thing for some kids.
