| Now we find out that not only did Youngkin hire someone from TN to supervise our schools, he is going to keep paying the former superintendent Balow who abruptly resigned! She is going to get her $266,213 in salary and more for health care and unused leave! What misfeasance did Youngkin do that he is wasting taxpayer money this way? |
DP. You’re not exactly making the case for more people of your intellect. JFC. |
Maybe you were unable to read this part of your link? “said she planned to continue to work with Youngkin’s administration as a consultant.” Consultants usually get paid. |
|
Also this:
“In the settlement, which was signed Feb. 28 and obtained by The Washington Post, the state agreed to pay Balow $266,213 in salary payments over the next year. In exchange, Balow agreed not to file legal action against the state.” |
Is this satire? |
Oof. Didn’t they have cause to fire her over the budget screw up? It has to be an at-will position, what grounds did she have to sue? That’s…something. |
Alternative view: the schools need help. |
Helping public schools is not part of that party’s orthodoxy. |
+1 Drive them into to ground to privatize. |
Puh-lease! Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky are always ranked lowest in education. The larger metropolitian cities within those states do okay when compared to the rest of the state, but get outside of those Blue cities and the rest of the state is full of uneducated bumpkins. The only thing that has saved Virginia from the same fate of these states was the Blue populous of Northern Virginia. Unfortunately, LCPS and the CRT wingnuts fcked the state this last election cycle. Enough Dems jumped ship to protect their kids from "boys in dresses" when in actuality, there are more trans kids in VA public schools than parents realize. They have been going to school with your kids since K. They have sleepovers with your kids and play on the same sports teams. They are 100% passing & presenting trans kids and you have NO idea. I know this for a fact because my niece is one of them. |
+1 Red states are takers. |
Take off your red colored glasses. She is getting paid her superintendent salary, not a new consultant fee. That’s why it was a settlement not a new agreement. This is super shady. |
+1 What did the state do wrong that they have to pay her salary and keep her on as a consultant even though they fired her? Sheesh. |
Oh sorry, I should rephrase. I’ll try again: Why is there a settlement forcing taxpayers to still pay $300,000 to the outgoing state superintendent? |
| I’d urge you to do some research on her and the wonderful things she has done in TN for education, especially literary. |
