How often do working rich people eat out vs packing a lunch

OP here. Hence why I used the phrase “working rich.”

When I used to go into the office it was always the junior people buying lunch. The execs were usually brown bagging it.

Eating out probably gets old when you’re old.

I get free breakfast and lunch at work but I don't always want it. I always bring my own breakfast. For lunch I usually bring a salad with a protein on it, or a smaller salad and then get a sandwich at work.

Let me correct it for you.
People who become rich people, and are insecure, and scared of becoming poor, pack their lunches, do their own yard work, and drive cars until they fall apart, and life in fear.
People who become rich people, and are confident about themselves, eat out, hire everything done, drive expensive depreciating assets, and enjoy life.

Jeff Bezos wasn't born rich. He doesn't pack lunch, he doesn't do his own yard work, he drives expensive depreciating cars.

Live life. Don't be scared.

It's not about money, but more about mustering up the bandwidth to prepare lunchboxes.

Yes, so do rich people muster up that bandwidth or not?

They likely have a cook or a SAHW who makes their lunch for them.

I doubt the rock star lawyer is slathering mayo and egg together in the morning to make egg salad while in their bespoke suit.

You guys just don't understand that "normal" people can be quite wealthy. My husband goes to work in casual clothes, drives a small Japanese car, packs his own lunch, yet we have several millions in assets.
He could buy a healthy lunch at his workplace cafeteria if he wasn't so frugal.

You have very inaccurate ideas of what rich really means.

This just means your husband is cheap or doesn't know how to dress.
Rock star biglaw partners go to work in bespoke suits. They don't pack lunch. They have several millions in assets.

I am rich and in my last job I ate out almost every day. $15 if I just grabbed something quick to eat in my office. $40-$60 per person if I had lunch with a business associate. Objectively it was a waste of money, but I earned so much that $5-$10k per year on office lunches would never matter.

We eat out usually once a week, usually on Friday, because we are tired of packing a lunch by that point in the week.

That buys 1 chipotle burrito nowadays.

I take a packed lunch 3-4 days a week. It's faster then going out, healthier, usually uses up leftovers instead of wasting them, and saves money.

I buy lunch when I don't have leftovers or time to make something specifically to take for lunch, if I need to leave the office anyway to run errands over lunch break, or to be social.

The most senior people in my office are eating at restaurants for work almost every day.

When I left government for private sector the one thing I changed was I started buying lunch. I'll never go back.

Yes, you are wasting money. My husband and I make about 800k between us, so could afford to eat lunch out every day. We almost never do. Unhealthy and a total waste.

Who is packing the lunch every morning? Do you have kids? I have enough to do getting their lunch and gear out the door
