Teens driving friends while having provisional license

Has anyone had their kid pulled over with a sibling in the car? My kids are twins, one has his license, the other doesn't. They will be riding together to/from school and activities.

I think siblings are ok, even with a provisional license.

Yes. Mine will pick her siblings up from school which is a mile away. It’s a huge help for me since I often have work calls at that time.

Thank you! The VA DMV Website was not clear on that specific point (that I could find), and the driving instructor mentioned something arriving in the mail and a court appointment, but that was over a month ago, and I've been out of town twice - so not really focused on what he said and the timing.

Unless they’ve renewed the practice in the last 2 months, the VA ceremony has not taken place since Covid times. Kid’s license comes in the mail - very unceremoniously.
^^
This. Our VA-based DC received hers in the mail after turning 16yr3mos since the driving instructor turned in the proper paperwork. DMV uses their learner's permit photo. No ceremony, fanfare, or black-robe lecture.

[side note: one of said DC's teacher's spouse is a sitting judge who loved to conduct those ceremonies and was looking forward to doing DC's. He is bummed they no longer happen.]

In the twin situation, does the non-licensed twin have some sort of ID to show in case they get pulled over?

Yes, he has a permit - just not a license yet. Good idea about making sure he has it with him at all times. And even once they both have a license, they will share a car and be driving each other around.

My kid has a provisional license in NC. Here you can drive one unrelated passenger. So she drives a friend home from school all the time. But you have to be home by 9 pm unless coming home from work which is so bogus. The rules are so arbitrary state to state.
