Tesla is an outstanding car, and even though there are competitors, they lack Tesla's appeal. We onky drive Teslas now, other EVs just arent the same. The plaid x is the fastest accelerating SUV on the market, EV or otherwise. People looking for a fun luxury ride arent leaving tesla anytime soon.

And yet I'm seeing more and more Lucid EVs on the road around here. It will become the new status car around here in the next year or so.

I was just outside my workplace parking garage in Rockville and there are about 20 free charging stations. I see 19 Tesla and 1 Chevy Volt.  I saw the same at my other remote office in Los Angles that Tesla outnumbers other EVs by 20 to 1.  Tesla is not going anywhere anytime soon.

No one is arguing Tesla is going to stop making cars or will go bankrupt. It produces a good product and there's demand for it. However, that does not mean the stock is worth 50 times PE (which is where it is at even after dropping 60% over the last year). You need to tell an amazing growth story to justify that kind of PE and it's hard to tell that story with so much competition coming on the market.

Investing advice on DCUM is about as valuable as advice from Jim Cramer...absolutely worthless.

OP, picking stocks is a losers game, confirmed by numerous studies.

Of course not, but the fact they aren't going anywhere does not justify the crazy multiple their stock was trading at. Like why is Tesla more valuable than Toyota? It doesnt make any sense.

First off, past performance doesnt' predict future results. Second, even though they can make cars for barely any profit now thanks to tax credits, when those are sunsetted they will lose money on each vehicle -- I guess they plan to make it up on volume

I do wonder why he's selling so much after promising over and over again that he wouldn't. My bet is he's getting margin calls that he needs to cover. But could also be that he's shoveling money into twitter to keep it alive after ad revenue cratered. Or he knows something about Tesla's prospects and wants to get out now. Whatever it is, it's not good for Tesla shareholders.

TSLA is valued on the assumption that it will continue to have the EV market to itself. Every manufacturer now has an EV and Rivian and Lucid are both competing in the luxury EV category. FSD is a dud and competitors are either just as far along or ahead of tesla

I'm still waiting for the paid-for FSD software to be released, my 2018 model 3 now has 60k miles on it and is no longer under warranty. Musk kept promising final FSD will be released every couple of years, I'm not holding my breath at this point that my car will make me tons of money as a self driving taxi...LOL

Tesla used to be the only game in town for a decent performance EV, no longer. There are so many options now on the market. I actually would buy a plug in hybrid at this point since I don't see our electric infrastructure gonna be ready for the volume of EVs about to hit the road.
