Fake spiders to scare their friends with? WTH? Are you seriously thinking teens want this and teens are scared by this?

OP: you have a few choices:

- buy random stuff that the teen won’t want but will fill the container

- buy 1 thing the teen will want (this will generally be candy- most teens have socks, candles, etc)

- buy 1 gift card the teen will want

- give a new $5 bill in an envelope

Please, please don’t buy dollar store items, socks, candles, slap bracelets, fake spiders, unless you care more about filing the container than giving what’s wanted (which is fine). 100% teens do not want these things.

As a parent of a teen and tween, I agree, please don't give them dollar store stuff. They don't want it or need it. They won't be mean about it, but I would be throwing it out in 5 minutes. I would do some candy/snacks and maybe have your kids each draw a picture for them - if these are kids that your kids interact with and your kids would want to draw a picture for their older friends. The older kids will likely think it is sweet that these kids drew them a picture, it isn't more plastic junk, and your kids get to feel like they made something for these older kids.

She’s looking to fill a boo basket. The basket and then 2-3 things of trash are $5+. Do the $5 as a gift card or cash and she’s done. Put it in an envelope with a free drawing from the child…everyone is happy. How much do you think an inexpensive boo basket would be?

I do boo baskets for just a couple of bucks each.

I would only do candy. Go to the grocery store or Costco and get yourself a big bag of candy for trick-or-treaters and just put some in a Ziploc bag for them.

Mini container of hand sanitizer/lotion in a Halloween scent, spicy snacks, scented lip balm, You could try and find something unusual like pumpkin spice Pringles. Or pumpkin spice marshmallows or graham crackers with chocolate bars for make-your-own s'mores.

$2? I guess if you do a $1 container at the dollar store and a few pieces of candy from a bag of candy, you can do it. That’s about $2. The teen won’t care about the container, so that’s a wasted $1. If you use dollar store candy, it will be thrown away unless it’s a known brand.

But who really wants spiced Pringle’s? Who makes s’mores at home? I mean you could but it’s not typical.

Lip balm? Maybe if a name brand and you know the kid uses it.

Honestly if you think $5 is expensive, then do a handwritten card with some known brands of chocolate taped on the outside. It would be less than $1 or so.

^^ mini sized chocolate bars. Maybe 3? It should cost about $1.

I purchased Halloween bags that were 75% off from target and put a variety of good candy in each bag. Recess, twix, KitKat, etc.

Chapstick or EOS, you've never heard of those? Teens aren't typical, they like to try unusual things. Bonus points if they can share with friends. S'mores can be made in the microwave. In your vast knowledge of tweens do they microwave food?
