Coffee?

He probably needs more sleep and is growing. but I started drinking caffeinated drinks at that age and my kids do sometimes. Every day is probably a concern tho. Its hard when their sports schedules don't allow them to get enough sleep, happens to us too.

Anyway, I let my kids drink coffee occasionally because they like it, but not because they’re tired. Your kid needs more sleep.

Neither does cigarettes. Old wives' tail.

Wives "tail" lol

Coffee is good for you.

I just cleaned out the lunchbox of a kindergartener whose coffee in a thermos leaked all over the place.

Yes! There’s this, also. What are you people so afraid of? It’s not heroin. It’s good for your liver, heart, lowers your risk of T2 diabetes, depression, etc etc.

Your kid is not going to get “hooked” on the caffeine in the occasional Starbucks sugar bomb and a small amount of coffee isn’t going to do it, either.

Now, I drank ENTIRELY too much crap as a teenager — I basically subsisted on diet sodas — because I stayed up too late and didn’t get enough sleep. I regret that. So gross.

My son is 15 and just started drinking an iced coffee every morning. It's probably half a cup of actual coffee and and a cup and a half of milk. But he says it perks him up in the morning.

why are you hesitant? I started at 14. Coffee is perfectly fine. Are you worried he won't grow? That is a myth.

A half cup of coffee really helps with my tween’s ADHD.

My friends and I used to hang out at a diner in HS and drink pots of the stuff. We grew up in the upper Midwest and all turned out to be really tall. Maybe it’s our Scandinavian genetics. Or all the corn.

My DS15 is going to try to wean off of his ADHD medication. I plan to introduce a cup of coffee in the morning when that happens.

I don't think an 8-12 oz cup of home brewed coffee with cream or small amount of sugar will do any damage to a teen.

I usually drink coffee at home but have the occasional latte. There is a lot more caffeine in a latte than home brewed coffee. I have trouble sleeping if I have a Starbucks type drink past 9:30AM, not so with my at-home coffee.

I think I started drinking coffee in 11th grade. I’m now 45, successful, 6 feet tall and still drinking lots of coffee!
