I was so enthralled with catching visual details from the dancing to costumes/ styles/ architecture, I was glad it was not shorter. On the other hand, my 10 year old was antsy early on and kept fidgeting.

It is soooo long. They should have cut out at least an hour. Im a huge marvel fan and other than eternals this is probably my least favorite MCU movie.

Well, it was the first (and still only) black hero to get their own dedicated Marvel movie, so there's that. A lot of people liked the main actor (I did as well). The CGI was pretty horrific in the movie, as was some of the editing. The narrative was also ham handed (come on... opening shot in the projects of black kids playing basketball?). And tbh the weakest part of the movie besides what I mentioned is the actress who is now the star of the movie. Remains to be seen whether a second rate actress who is openly anti-vax and crazy will have the same draw.

This is a harsh assessment of Leticia Wright but I don’t think anyone cares that she is ‘anti-vax’. I would also argue that many marvel movies have done well with ‘second rate actors’ helming the movies- I don’t exactly think Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evans are Sir Laurence Olivier or were famous before their breakout roles.

NP. It’s not just anti vax. She posted a video to her Twitter where the speaker supposedly was questioning climate change and was transphobic. It’s all deleted now so impossible to verify.

Letitia Wright is probably the worst actor in any of the Marvel movies up through Endgame. Why tf they decided to base a character on her will forever be a mystery. Wooden acting, sounds like she's reading from the script every time she talks.
