Why are you still telling daycare that your kid tested positive?

Why am I telling my daycare about positives? Because when we’re on a “test to stay”, I have to if I want to avoid shoving a stick up my kids nose every other week. The positive gets me 90 days free of that.

The teacher doesn’t have to test either.

Why on earth would you want your child's teacher or classmates coming to daycare sick?

Because that's daycare? Someone is always going to be sick. Whether it's Covid or something else. That's just daycare.

I didn't say they should come in sick. I said they don't have to test. If they don't have any symptoms, then they have no reason to test. If they're actually sick, they should take sick leave like anyone else. If they have mild symptoms that don't impact their ability to work, they should wear a mask.

Most admin at child care centers are requiring teachers to show proof of a negative test every week.

That’s not normal. Not even in MoCo. I'm not sure where you are.

I'm a teacher at a PKEEP CBO in DC and admin provides us with tests every Friday and we must show negative Monday a.m.

Yep we definitely don’t. I don’t test when I go to families so it works both ways. Sometimes I get to bring you covid, and I don’t feel bad because you guys don’t seem to care about me either.

If you are unhappy with this situation, I know plenty of very cautious families who would like a similarly minded nanny. Hard to tell if you like this arrangement of not.

PP here. That’s surprising at a federal facility. I know mine has very intentionally stayed in sync (in spirit, at least) with federal employee guidelines. So unvaccinated staff have had to do testing once we hit the moderate community level, but nothing for vaccinated staff and nothing when we’re in low.

And even that was more than the policies I heard at other centers in MoCo when we were looking for a provider. None of them required surveillance testing- only testing for symptoms and sometimes contacts.

You quoted me. This is not a federal facility. PKEEP means Pre-K Enhancement and Expansion Program. DC has free Pre-K.
