I agree that WF quality has gone down since Amazon took over.
In the summer I try to buy fruit and produce at farmers markets although they do tend to be expensive |
Disagree - the meat at MOMs is excellent and always sourced very locally. As in, not New York locals but actually local. |
Huh. Wonder if it was drug use or tardiness/no shows? Because the MOMs I know best has had the same employees for years with a few substitutes. (Rockville). Not sure why they’d stay if it’s so “terrible.” Did a manager catch your friend smoking weed out back on the job? |
| It is location dependent. The Whole Foods in LA near the Grammy building is amazing. The Whole Foods in Portland Maine is terrible |
Jeff Bezos is totally on board the ‘green new deal’ and Klaus Schwab and Bill Gates. Your food comes from factories, not farms. So evil. |
I too would recommend MOMs and would disagree with the PP regarding how they treat their employees. I've shopped there for years and consistently seen the same people working there. They offer a 401k, health plan, and discounts on their purchases. They also have a great program for recycling all manner of things. I hate Whole Foods now, especially since the Amazon acquisition. I think MOMs is what Whole Foods used to be. I think their seafood selection is subpar, but then I go elsewhere for that and don't eat other types of meat. |
This. I'm no health nut but I could never understand the love for TJ, especially from someone like OP who is apparently complaining that her food from WF was unhealthy. How does TJ's solve that problem? |
| The produce doesn't look beautiful anymore. |
OP: Actually my complaint was that Whole Foods — a store that has billed itself as, among other things, not selling GMO foods — sold something that was genetically modified. I never used the word “unhealthy “, although healthy food is definitely a goal. Here are Trader Joe’s standards: “Trader Joe's brand products contain NO artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, MSG, added trans fats, dairy ingredients from rBST sources or genetically modified ingredients. Trader Joe's brand products contain colors derived only from naturally available products” As to your question, though, Trader Joe’s has a good selection of dried fruit and nuts, nut butters, and decent cheese. They also have chocolate covered almonds that cost less than the ones that I bought at Whole Foods, and, presumably, conform to their stated standards. While I know that they have aisles of snacks and freezers full of prepared food, it’s quite possible to bypass those aisles. tldr: Trader Joe’s has their own version of the specific product that prompted my complaint. |
Not in a big agribusiness lab environment. |
| Is this still about Whole Foods? |
Do you eat seedless watermelon? Where does crossbreeding/selective breeding stop being safe and become GMO? |
My husband is not beautiful. He looks like a turd. |
I’m not that opposed to artificial flavors, artificial colors or GMO foods, but Whole Foods food bar foods have been trash for at least a decade. The produce is weak. The only thing good about it is the packaged foods, the housewares and Amazon delivery lockers. |
I went to buy some herbs, produce and meat/fish- just felt like there wasn't a lot of variety like there used to be. No better than HT (that I'd just left disappointed). That leaves me with Wegmans for everything. |
