Is it rude to talk on the phone in a common area?

Anonymous
Most people know what conversations a e appropriate or inappropriate to have in public.

These annoying folks have zero boundaries and think carrying on a loud personal conversation is totally fine wherever they are

Pretty sure I heard a similar conversation about family member mental illness. Dude, the world doesn’t need to know! Please go somewhere else or place that call from home.

It is rude to talk LOUDLY and for a LONG TIME in the common area. If you can speak softly and talk for less than a few minutes, then I'm fine with it.

Aside from the rudeness I don’t know why people aren’t concerned about strangers knowing so much about them.

I’ve also heard of people being fired for talking about clients, and in some cases lawyers violating privilege. Best story I heard was a cab driver calling some moron’s firm after hearing him discuss a case.

This! As I said, some people have zero boundaries.

This is exactly why we should not just be having conversations wherever your phone rings

Rude. I was at the restaurant at the Kennedy center and someone decided to FaceTime their family. She was so loud as was her daughter that I decided to join in the conversation. I was trying to enjoy the time with my children in real life. Why couldn't she take her call elsewhere?

What? Using a phone to text in a public area is in no way rude.

GAHHHH why do people do this? I have seen people Facetiming on a Metro bus! They weren't even talking, just watching each other. So bizarre to me!

I don't understand people who have long ass phone convos in public. One thing to chat idly for five minutes and then say "Gotta go, call you back later" but I've been on busses, in grocery stores, waiting rooms, etc. with people having conversations for 30+ minutes! And sometimes about very personal matters. Once in a waiting room this girl was talking about her friend hooking up with a guy at their college homecoming and I was like...maybe she doesn't want you putting her shit on blast in a dermatologist waiting room? Totally foreign concept to me to do this. No one wants to hear you babble incessantly.

That's when you decide to play your music in public. If they complain, laugh.

People need to not be so rude to carry on phone conversations in public spaces. Period

Why is it different than a regular conversation tho? Explain.
