For those who used the nursery in the hospital

This story is horrifying. Yes, there was an underlying medical condition, but this baby would be alive now if he'd been sent to the nursery.

Both my kids coughed up a lot of fluid/mucus after delivery. Something about fast deliveries and it not getting worked out during the pushing phase. Honestly I never thought I would want to use the nursery but I was pretty scared to put the baby down and rest with my first and the nurse talked me into letting them take her for an hour or two while I slept, so they could keep an eye on her. It was probably the only time I slept at the hospital and they brought her back as soon as she needed to nurse. 2 years later with my son they did the same thing. I remember specifically saying, "Oh, it's probably just paranoia, right?" And the nurse actually said, "I wish I could tell you it was, but not for the first 24 hours or so."

I assume in a hospital without a nursery I would sit up and watch them all night.

I tried to and they brought her back because they were “too busy”
