JoJo Siwa was blacklisted by the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards

She has stayed relevant in the mainstream for longer than the rest of the original Dance Moms cast. Maddie has been in movies in the past few years though.

But she’s clearly good at what she does.

She was. She’s not relevant to that audience anymore, and the audience she is relevant in, isn’t interested in her. She has sort of run her course, as one does.

Yo, you should check the resell prices of her tickets.

They were going for $$ and her shows were all sold out.

She gained a huge following on TikTok during the pandemic. She started loosening up on there, posting wearing "normal' clothes and without the bows... testing the waters, and all of a sudden there was no stigma in liking JoJo Siwa anymore.

Most of the videos I saw of her tour had an audience of older teens, young adults, and even some older adults. Not tons of little kids like it used to be.

Also, she and her mom were smart - they created a reality show to form their own pop group with younger girls. Why? To keep the younger kids as fans of that group and JoJo.

There is no stigma liking Jojo if you are 4-6 yrs old. Beyond that there is

The rest of the cast seem ok with not being relevant. Many of them have been open about the pressure and emotional damage of being on the show and likely realize that is the cost of fame. They chose to do something different.

If anything it’s the mother’s (surprise!) like Christi that are still milking the show.

She was my favorite mom on the show, but yeah, she needs to move on.

She was nominated for an award and they played one of her songs during the broadcast (one she wasn’t allowed to sing on her tour), so apparently Nick and its viewers aren’t actually over her music.

Check Google - she wasn't nominated for anything this time.

I'm 45 and I watched that reality show when I caught it on tv.

Oh puhleeze she is still pretty much a kid. She has spark and bubble - she has plenty of time to reinvent herself and flourish again. She clearly loves performing …

Of course she does! But she obviously needs a new platform. She’s definitely outgrown Nickelodeon.

You're very much wrong.

My 7 yo has no idea who Jojo is. Her friends don't know her either. My 15 yo? Obsessed with her. She vaguely remembers her as "the bow girl" but really knows about her from TikTok and IG. Her friends are all the same. Jojo is the vibe according to them.

Did you really not check Google before posting this? First result:

“Fans were especially confused, considering that Siwa was nominated at the 2022 ceremony for favorite social music star — she ultimately lost out on the award to fellow nominee, Dixie D’Amelio.”

Yeaaaa. She picks a fight with the network that made her famous and then wonders why they don’t want her around?

“ Siwa previously called out Nickelodeon in September 2021, claiming that the network had blocked her from performing any of the music she recorded for the “The J Team” movie on tour. The film, released via Paramount+, featured six original songs co-written by Siwa.

“These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair???” she wrote in a series of since-deleted tweets, per Billboard. “Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it’s not.”

It sounds like she does not own the rights to those songs which given she's been around for a while she should understand or at least her legal team should of when she signed a contract with them.

Interesting. My kids and their friends (ages ranging from 8-14) consider her "baby-ish" and associate her with preschool merchandise.

As others pointed out, it’s the same mentality as Taylor Swift.

Can we talk about Jojo Siwa please? I am begging. She came out as a lesbian and went hard on being a member of their LGBTQ gang. She has always been very "Tom Cruise in love with Katie Holmes on Oprah" about each girlfriend she's had. Now she was apparently on yet another reality show (Big Brother?) and became friends with some guy. Then at the premiere she dumped her girlfriend to the press (a la Matt Damon dumping Minnie Driver on ... Oprah (maybe Oprah was the problem?)) but swore she was "just friends" with the guy she'd cuddled with.

Now she's with the guy and ... straight? Bisexual? What does it all mean? Also, I understand she's only 22 and has been in the public eye since age 9 (Dance Moms) so she's spent all her formative years on social media and making "statements" but I really wish someone would explain to her that she doesn't need to exploit herself and her relationships by making them all public. Just STOP talking about your private life. Because her dating people, then breaking up and dating other people - it's all totally normal for her age, but because she gushes all over social media and in articles about each person, she comes across as sloppy.

Do we think she's intelligent enough to break out of this cycle of making every aspect of her life public and capitalizing on her own personality to be famous? Or is she doomed to be a laughing stock to the public for the rest of her life?

She’s a celeb who needs to generate media attention to make money.

She’s worth $20M but hasn’t toured in years and probably needed a reboot…so…here it is.

I doubt she cares what you think. She’s leveraging media attention to sustain her career. More likely, she’s looking for a reality show gig.
