APS: Director of Equitable & Inclusive Practices

Did the previous DEI officier officially leave? I might have missed that. What happened?

I work for a state agency that is hiring a lot of EDI and equity leadership positions right now. When these are proposed, it’s really not possible to push back for people internal to the organization. Very risky to their jobs.

It took until Page 4 for the race card to be pulled. I certainly had the under on this thread. Color me pleasantly surprised on this one Arlington.

As White folks are wont to do, speak for minorities, do tell us then what all these equity directors and assistants at Central office are doing, have done, are supposed to be doing? All for show?

Exactly! The chief equity officer w multiple staff reporting to them is absurd. Again, what they actually done?

Nothing and never will. What exactly do people think that position is going to do? I best if you asked non white patents what this position is and what this person does they wouldn’t have any idea. And if you asked while people you would get the same response.

More diverse teachers in the schools would be a good place to start.

Minority families want the same thing as white families, education, academic, attention from teachers. Hiring better and more teachers and specialists help that, not this chief

It’s not racist to think this position is redundant. The fear of being perceived as racist is why this BS has even gotten this far. We don’t need a thousand equity directors.

Maybe I should get an EdD and secure one of these sweet equity gigs where there’s plenty of political appetite but no real incentive to make any meaningful changes. “If we could actually solve these problems, we’d be out of a job, so maybe we will just pretend like we’re doing something” sounds pretty lucrative.

No one said the thread was racist. PP simply called out that in all likelihood this is a thread full of white people who can't comprehend why a school system catering to students and families across the socioeconomic spectrum would need professionals who understand how to run a fair and equitable organization.

Can you read?! No one is saying we don’t need people. The problem is that we have minority achievement coordinators in the schools, a supervisor, a Chief Officer, and now, a Director. Too many chiefs, not enough teachers.
