They can't charge more and maximize OOS revenue. |
But W&M cost of attendance is relatively low for lower to lower middle income families. |

| Loans |
Loans? If you are referring to the link above, it is Net Price, which is total cost minus grants and scholarships. It isn't factoring loans, which can be used to pay the net price. |
That doesn't mean $38K for in state public isn't also obscene. |
That's true for a lot of places. For family income under $80,000 UVA gives free tuition. |
Obscene by how much? Most quality publics are $30 all-in. So, you’re going to argue about 8k/year? Also, the schools you’re comparing too are probably much, much larger and poorer quality. If you think a large school with middling academics is great, take W&M off your list. |
Perhaps. I was just pointing out that W&M's average net cost is the lowest or close to the lowest in Virginia up to $110K/year in income. You can see in the link below that most of the other public schools have significantly higher average net costs at lower to mid income levels. https://tamingthehighcostofcollege.com/net-price-of-virginia-colleges-by-income/ |

It’s all averages and I bet a lot of that $$$ is loans
|
Net price is before loans. |
+1 DP: The data show that W&M is particularly generous compared with other VA colleges with grant aid for families making less than 110k/yr. I don't know why people are saying what they "bet" when there's data on what is true. |
Please go do some research before posting. UCLA is the same price instate as W&M and OOS to UCLA is almost $70,000. If you include airfare it is definitely over $70k |
