How big is too big for a K class?

My DD didn't know how to read, and with the large class size was falling through the crack. She didn't score low enough - according to mcps - to access additional reading help. She'd still be illiterate had I not taken it upon myself to teach her myself.

We are struggling with that right now. DD’s current K class has 21 kids. She can’t read and a lot of the kids can. Teacher is not concerned but we are.

The question is what is your concern? The fact she can’t read on her oen while others can or the fact she isn’t making progress towards/in reading? Those are two very different things. Not all kids read in Kindergarten.
