We both agreed on the name and loved it. Still like it years later but felt kind of awkward a few times when people asked about how we chose it - lots of people had family reasons etc but we just thought it was pretty. Sounded shallow when I said it like that

Jackson
Margaret I think it’s obvious but you tell me |
| One daughter here. Technically, he "won" because his choice of name ended up in first, while mine is the middle name. But both are family names, one from each side, but the names, initials, and combinations also reference other people, family, and even a favorite fairy tale character. I love all the references, but it's a lot to pack into a name! |
|
We have 3 kids,
- First kid: DH - Second kid: name after someone - Third kid: DW Their names are matched, so it's hard to tell who won. |
Mom named Jackson cause it is cool & also her maiden name and dad named Margaret because that is his beloved aunt who left him her collection of Tin Pan Alley records that you sold for the down payment on your rowhouse in 16th street heights. Rowhouse has doubled in value since 2011 so thanks auntie peg. Margo and Jack-Jack will zoom you after their fencing class. |
I think you've answered your own question, PP. LOL! |
I like this game. OP, I am South Asian and DH and I each chose a name. Devon and Arya. Which name belongs to which parent? |
|
My boy's name is classic but not common, and I totally won. I am the mom and there was no way anyone had a say over me for this baby, my one and only, born late to us. The name hit me while pregnant and I felt the name in my heart. I had doubts before he was born and just after, because it was such a huge decision. But no doubts since.

What are they if you don't mind sharing? |
m EXCACT OPPOSITE Amd we fought about the names |
Trick question, you named both children, although he thinks he came up with Arya all on his own. Watching all those seasons of Game of Thrones paid off, after all. |
| I (the mom) did. Since I don't get to help pick the surname, it is only fair that I pick the other names. But I went into my DH's family tree to do so (lots of great names there!) and I wouldn't have picked one he disliked. |
| I would never use a name my spouse hated, no matter how much I liked it. Hence why my daughter is not named Margaret. |
| My husband's last name is nicer than mine so the kids got his last name. I therefore got to choose their first and middle names. He was fine with my choices. |
| DH and I both have one-syllable last names, so that was easy to hyphenate. Then we each listed our top 5 first names and went from there. |
