Choosing teams in PE

I really dislike that kids play any competitive sports/games in school.

Where is the need for that? All it does it heighten the exploding anxiety levels kids have. And it does not serve equity goals.

Why can’t kids participate in shorts where everyone wins?

I was reading this thread trying to think of my kid has ever talked about playing in teams against one another in gym. I don’t think so but she’s only in first grade. Is it coming? I don’t really remember this from growing up but I was pretty middle of the pack so maybe it’s just not ingrained in my memory.

Schools s should be counting off 1-4 and then teacher should mix up coins of two to form each team.

PE class is beyond wussy now. Not learn. Any sports units and the pn they show up for middle and Hugh school gym afraid of balls, no skills, no knowledge, no basic rules of basic ball sports. And if they’re really scared of pE, they can opt out and take stretching class. Lol.

So we need to intervene and protect kids from themselves.

Teacher here and I put a stop to just this at recess today. Several kids privately thanked me after to.

Wow, this is how we picked teams in the 1970s when I was a skinny little kid inevitably picked near the end. I can’t believe this humiliating practice is still going on.
