Huh? I regularly try to up DH's game. DH makes sure that his clothes, skin (men use moisturizer too!), shoes, wallet, belt, watch all are very nice. Men also try to stay in shape and lose weight. I agree it's a bit easier for men. |
+1 not poor & not showing off my "new money" |
lol you’re one of those losers who desperately wants to be old money..your kind of striving is the worst. |
| I think a lot of ppl are treating themselves after missing vacations, activities, etc for a few years. Also people are putting off renovations and car purchases bc supply chain problems have messed those up. So people feel like they can do something nice for themselves. |
| Stupidity. |
+2 |
| "Lately" ??? |
You sound dumb. Not everyone wears a designer bag everyday. Most people switch it up with outfits like anything else. Have you NO style? Keep up. |
|
It's a forum. Some posters are noticing that designer status symbols are not desirable among many in younger generations. It is not NO style, it is a different style.
You keep up. Or are you the one trying to push designer handbags in half a dozen threads? |
Not PP you are talking to but as I noted earlier, this is the stance of a PARTICULAR kind of GenZ-er, read: white, affluent people who grew up with abundance and nice things and so don't understand the need for some people who didn't have the background growing up to want to treat themselves once they have managed to acquire some level of success. And I say this as someone who grew up with enough and is not spending any of my money on designer things. Also, DCUM is a place where women come to revel in looking unattractive as they are super afraid someone will look at them. It is odd. |
| Maybe. Or maybe gen Z does not equate fancy expensive designer handbags with "attractive". |
No, they spend it on sneakers instead. If you didn't know what they cost, you might think they're less materialistic. But if you do... |
| I am fine with having desgner handbags. I just don't see them as status symbols among my young adult kids or their friends. That is just my observation. |
The mental gymnastics are pointless because no one’s looking at these uggos anyway, whether they dress up or not. |
Ok, dummy. |
