Facebook groups organized around specific school districts.

Arlington Education Matters is one. I’m sure there are others in other districts.

The men are at least as bad. Why do they get a pass?

Oh yes, I’d argue they’re worse. On both sides.

The racist, anti CRT, anti mask dads on AEM are the worst.

OMG. The angry dad bros are the worst. So hysterical and hostile.

What do you want to know about me? I guess you could ask the PP who claims to know me in real life, but I also have just learned that we’re no longer friends. Of course it’s an anonymous board so I’m not even sure who exactly which “friend” I’ve “lost.”

I want to know what your problem with CO2 is and what school you are connected with

Ha! No problem with CO2 — I fully recognize and appreciate its integral role in photosynthesis.

Last winter, I had a maybe 10-15 second spot in an NBC interview about the return to in-person schooling in Arlington. It specifically focused on concerns about the air quality in Arlington schools. I mentioned that, to my son’s chagrin, I was planning to send him back to school with a CO2 monitor because his then-school (Swanson) was on APS’s list of having poor indoor air quality. I had read some ventilation experts who suggested that all classrooms have CO2 monitors as a quick/easy/inexpensive way to monitor a room’s air quality. Well, my son humored me for all of one or two days and then promptly lost that CO2 monitor. In the meantime, some bro dad from APE, who apparently fancies himself quite funny by stalking people from Smart Restart and giving them unfunny nicknames, labeled me as CO2 monitor mom because of that one line from the interview.

You are an imbecile. There is no such thing as a carbon dioxide detector.

DP. My kid's teacher has one in her classroom.

Well this didn’t age well. There are a ton of carbon dioxide monitors and a ton of stories about their use in various settings, including in classrooms. I was on the fence about joining the ACPS FB group. But now several years in, I don't think I'm missing any critical info. I can legitimately say I don't follow an issue when a fellow parents asks me about whether I saw the FB post.

Our preschool uses them.

Japan uses CO2 monitors everywhere. It’s one of the ways they have kept indoor spaces open and functional - recognizing the importance of ventilation early on in the pandemic.

See, e.g., they are in all the movie theatres:

That’s actually quite impressive! I honestly don’t understand people who criticize those who support ventilation and other indoor air quality measures in schools. These are known effective mitigation strategies for COVID (as well as other upper respiratory viruses) and in some cases more cost-effective. Would be great to improve air quality in schools for viruses, asthma, allergies, etc.

Serious question - don’t you feel like a complete fool when you look back on this? Just reading it - omg the hysteria 😂😂 All that angst and kids went back to school. And nothing happened. Your kid threw that thing in the trash. Or maybe his teacher took pity on him and offered to take care of it for him.
Imagine watching that clip 5 years from now?? 10 years?? This will be one of those hilarious stories your family talks about for years to come!

I don’t get it either. And no one I know well is in a cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs group
online.

Looks like they are rolling CO2 monitors out into British classrooms too….although they had some slowness delivering them. Not sure what people think it’s so crazy for us to do this here too. We are the country whose scientists recently made oxygen on Mars, so not sure what we just throw our hands up with this, but what do I know….

You could ask the same of this forum. However, Before COVID, some of these Facebook groups were forums where you could discuss/learn/advocate about school issues in a more constructive way. Except for the great school calendar debate when privilege moms were upset their year in advance vacations may be disrupted.

If it no longer serves you Unjoin.

Just like here I don’t comment on threads that are insane.

Are you friends with any of them? Have you ever told them to stop embarrassing themseves?

Why are you so insecure?

Pro tip: People who are actually happy with themselves and confident don't waste their time whining about what other people post on Facebook.

"Pro tip"?

Did you steal that from you son's Reddit post thinking it would make you look contemporary? Learn to use it before making yourself look like an ass again.

Plenty of secure and happy people point out other's faults. I'll chang my stance if you concede that those who criticized Trump are insecure, igorant twats. Take a pick, sweety.

The OP's point was that the drama queen loud mouth moms are siimply attention whores using the topic for their own needs. Attention. Know how I know? They do it on other topics as well. The sky is always falling and they always have the answer.

Look at me! Look at me! Look at me!

It's the same few people over and over again. I knew only one of them in real life; she pretends to be one thing, but she's really another. I sometimes fantasize about calling her out on that public forum for the extremely unkind thing her kid did to mine, which set in motion a series of events that pushed DC into a depression spiral it took months to get out of. An unkind thing which she witnessed and did nothing about. I had to hear about it from another parent, whose child witnessed it. (DC didn't tell me; didn't want to upset me.) Every time I see her name and her comments I just shake my head.

There's a really strange mom on the ACPS group who will randomly spout off about how everything a black person does, even brushing their teeth, is a glorious act of survival and resistance.
