No guidance on masking?! The school didn’t tell the students they need to wear masks? Or simply stated a “well- fitting mask”?

Our school is similar. We were asked to wear "surgical masks." No testing. Stern words about students who don't comply with masking having to move to virtual learning. Stay home if sick. That's about it. I am fine with this approach, because testing is just disruptive for what is now less mild than the common cold.

No guidance on wearing a better mask, as in kn95s. Seems like cloth masks are still ok. Some kind of mask is required.

TSS, Independent in Arlington.
PCR negative test result before return to school. School does not provide testing though so about 1000 of my closest friends and I will be standing in a Curative line today.

Also, this is illogical. If we partied on the 31st and flew yesterday, our infection would not register a PCR as positive today and that goes for all the other schools testing today and tomorrow.

Test smart or don't test. I very much appreciate the schools providing testing though. I wish.

Also, rapid test, at school, on the day of return is probably the best of options which is what we are doing at work. Take a rapid test, pass, entered the hallowed halls.

Email says wear multi-layer mask, but that is not new. Refers to cdc webpage about mask wearing. Also says to keep children home if sick. These strategies were already in place. Nothing new has really been implemented.

SSSAS: All school testing Sunday (today). Virtual on Monday. If results are good, return to in person on Tuesday. All school testing again on Thursday. Advised to check your mask for proper fit nd possibly double mask/KN95 during this time.

Yeah bro who will enforce this?

This

This testing at least three times a week would help, not once a week

Concord Hill — Testing today, resume on Tuesday (unless testing shows big outbreak). Continued with weekly testing which is what they been doing all year

K94/95 required for everyone. Test to stay if exposed. 10 day quarantine if catch it.

Vaccine required for aftercare

I’m just hoping omicron is the last hurrah and we can go back to no masks in a month. Not a fan of having 3-6 year olds in K95s all day.

Yes. Very surprised. It seems they have just thrown the towel in.

Has there been pushback at all? This seems crazy, given the high levels of cases right now.

This sounds like they aren’t crazy chicken little sky is falling.

I do agree with this, now with omicron. It’s almost like we should be testing at least three times a week at school, or home testing prior to coming, or not test at all unless there are symptoms. There will be many asymptomatic cases that are sent home. I feel like the one test a week is the middle ground now and doesn’t serve a real purpose.

Our family got covid over the break. The home tests were negative until we were sick for a full day or two and we were definitely contagious. If we didn't know we'd been exposed we might have assumed it was a cold and gone about our business. Kids were barely symptomatic.

So what is your point?( Not being snarky.)

Really? They appear to be one of the few schools in DC (which is a global hot spot) not asking for a negative test to return. Minimizing future cases and spread will help keep schools open in person over the next few weeks. I can't for the life of me understand Lowell's thinking here. It's bizarre.

Or maybe the direction for the future.

The email said it would create stress for people to have to find tests given the limited availability but it seems all the other schools can help their students do so. I am a parent there and I also don’t get the thinking behind this decision.

That’s such a BS excuse.
