PP is talking about middle schoolers 12-15 yo who are almost ALL past 6 months.

My kids got it end of August so they are at 4 months and I would not do a booster prior to 6months minimum for a kid 16 and under.

Yeah so that's the point. An entire middle school population who are NOT eligible for boosters because they are younger than 16 and 6+ months past vax will have to quarantine; while 2 weeks ago they didn't have to.

There’s 0 data on boosters for young people. There’s plenty of data on the less than flu level risk for unvaccinated teenagers. It’s got to be even lower for vaccinated ones.

I’m excited for Youngkin to make major changes to these quarantine requirements in a few weeks.

Sb 1303 requires schools to comply with CDC guidance. Youngkin isn’t going to have much discretion about what he can do, at least not in the short term. Thank God.

Why is that?!?

You screamed for over a year about how horrible virtual school is and how all kids need in person school, but now you want to send others off to virtual?

I can't even.

The next month is going to be rough. Schools can't close down to prevent infections, thanks to our friends in APE who lobbied so hard for a state law. Instead, we're stuck waiting for the inevitable outbreaks and staff shortages and then schools will close.

So we will get the worst of both worlds. Mass infection, illness, disruption and ultimately virtual school.

And worst of all, the APEs will scream the whole time at everyone.

Yup. They're the worst.

It says “to the maximum extent practicable”. Northam already gave up on that provision requiring masks and did the statewide order instead. That language is an exception large enough to drive a truck through (which is why Northam gave up on using it as a mask mandate).

If you remember at the end of last school year, many schools were planning to be mask optional in VA.

I’ve noticed the coronaphobes on AEM saying school is not safe but not signing up for virtual. It’s the same reason why they wanted schools closed in Fall 2020. They know in person school is superior and they can’t stand the idea of other kids possibly getting ahead of their own kids. It was solely about fomo and jealousy

APE Bingo:
- Do not opt in to the screening testing!
- Do not report positive home tests
- Here's Chap Peterson's contact information if you kid's class goes virtual
- My kid's teacher is out sick but she's not really sick, she just doesn't want to work
- My kid's teacher is out sick and the substitute is horrible
- Bonus: My spouse/ friend/ friend's kids/ nanny had Covid and it was just a little cold!
- Extra Bonus: I can't wait for January 15 when Youngkin will do away with masks!

+1. The close school crowd are the bullies, IMO. They don’t want their kids in school so no one’s kids can be in school. And if you think they only want 2 weeks off, think again. They kept us closed for practically the whole year with their “smart restart” nonsense.

They proposed some things APS can do to make it safer and to KEEP more kids in school. No one is saying to close schools, dipsh1t.

No, they are already hard at work spinning up all of the fear and terror that they can. I'm sorry for their uncontrolled anxiety and all, but, will lose my mind if they want to hold us all hostage to hysteria again.

The post was complaining that the new CDC guidelines will force more vaccinated kids (12-15) to quarantine after exposure - and more kids will miss school. I guess calling out implications of the changes is “hysteria” now.

No--there are multiple posts starting over a week ago, about how can we mix things up and maybe go virtual? And posting all kinds of links to articles about the spread of Omicron, etc etc etc. Like, anyone who is on social media presumably can read and intake the current events of the world and is cognizant of the current covid climate and potential implications. Why do people feel the need to feverishly post articles that spin things up--it seems like they get off on just posting repeatedly and terrorizing people.

Here's the deal--COVID is here to stay. We cannot outrun it. We have to learn how to live with it. And most of the rest of America and the world have elected to maintain in person school for children in spite of Omicron (and in spite of Delta and everything else that has unfolded since basically fall of 2020). Our kids are so far behind and suffering in excess of their similarly situated peers in most other places.

You sound easily triggered if you think any of those posts were “terrorizing”.

Maybe take a break from AEM and talk to someone about your anxiety.
